40 hydro built by Marten Davis, owned by Lew Mettetal. It won many races and handled like a dream.

My father loved it so much he bought it for me to run. I came in 4th in D hydro at the 1982 Mini Gold Cup. This boat was truly one of Marty's masterpieces.

That brings back memories, had one of Marty's 40 boats and a 60 boat shortly after Greg Hughey took over the business.

Ahhh, hard shafts and mini pipes, didn't get any better that that... :)

Hey if the engine stays running long enough, I'll see you boys down in London this year! Lane 7 and survive, just like Mike Meelbusch used at the Indy Unlimited !

Jim:

You sure know how to get the Nostalgia going :)

Meelbusch used a SAW prop (2.6) and ran really fast outside at the Unlimited. Won more than one of that tough race.

Those old Crapshooters sure look "Clunky" in comparison with todays boats.

Ha jim i never meet u but have meet your dad but my father ran boats with your dad back when they ran behind the opp station off the 401 .I also have one of those crapshooter's that paul conrad and his son built for me in the late 80's . i ran it two years ago for a few laps until the old k&b went south . might have to find a motor for it and start a nostalgia class ? lol. good to see a old name frome the windsor area . Butch, I know my dad also had a white twin Crapshooter that Marty also made. As well a Red Thundergator twin 60. He sold those to someone in the Windsor area probably 30 years ago. Paul Conrad, there's a name I haven't heard in ...forever. Have you heard from him lately?

Paul had a stroke a few years back and living in a home . His son is flying airplanes and lives out by amherstburg .im sure he still has his geared twin 90's i think . i have the twin 60 that the guy that owned tally ho amusement started . cant remember his name right now .put a gas motor in it ran pretty good but started coming apart frome age . lol. do u remember a guy named paul mino ?got some old pics around should scan them and send them to u .My dad is still running and we got a club with about 10 members .U got me thinking to get the old 40 crapshooter out and bring it to the nats . lol

That's right Pat Vickerman & my father were the best of friends. They had a gentlemanly grudge race going featuring their twins. Dad won the 1st year and never won again. Pat's gator ran very well. For his trouble dad won the losing "canoe" mounted trophy. LOL. Tell ya what I'll try my best to make it down to Tilbury this year for the race. Should be fun. Paul Mino doesn't ring a bell.

Nostalgia class sounds interesting. How many have old boats on their shelves.I plan on bringing my 67 Coyote out this season.

I've still got the original OS Max 46. Rigging a pipe on it will be the challenge. If I could still run a short stack, I'm home free, but the new IMPBA rules....

Jim where did u find the rules for the stack ? looked on the impba site and can not find it ? also u going to keep the hard shaft for the prop or put a flex shaft in ?
