i have a wood hull coated in fiberglass resin,,,, what is a good glue that will keep this tank in here???? ive tried 2 part epoxy,,,, ca,,,,,and this other stuff called like goop or somthing,,, and that worked the longest,,,, but yet again the tank came loose....

what do you guy's use????????

the use of GOOP is a good pne. just rough up the glassed area where you want to put the tank at.

after doing so, get some rubbing alcohol and wipe the tank with it then rough up the area on the tank where you want the

GOOP to stick to it.

runa bead of it in the area where the tankis to go, set the tank in place hard, run another bead of the GOOP around the tank WITH a bead of it going OVER the tank and let it set up. from time to time check on the GOOP and make sure it stays (meaning wet your finger and smear the bead back up) in the area where you put it.

my daughters speedmaster 21 is done this way and it is now going on 5yrs old. same tank in it and hasnt come loose yet.

i thought about boxing it in and using the hooks and rubber bands,,,, could be the route to go...

the goop i have to say did work good,,, its in a v-hull so only each side of the tank touches the hull... i scratched both surfaces,, and cleaned both with a wax and grease remover for autobody,,, stuck awsome to the glass,,, tank stayed for a while but it just wont grab the tank....

anyone ever try rtv / gasket maker???? seems like it would also soak up some vibration...

I use silicon. I mount my tanks to the under side of the cowls on the HTB290 and it works great.

i use velcro to mount tanks. not the 'soft' kind you normally see, 3m makes an industrial grade that HOLDS. nitro doesn't hurt the glue. all i've ever used, tanks stay put. i can pick my boats up by the tank..... i'll get a part # at work, and post it tonite. got a couple where the tank is rounded, only catches along the edge/corner, kinda like what you have due to the v hull, holds as good as a flat mount.

Go to using the IV bag if your using gas or epoxy wood blocks with hooks to hull & use rubber bands to secure tank

Also your tank flopping around possibly pinching off the fuel line could blow your plugs by causing a lean condition CB.

I didn't know about this post while answering your PM

I use E6000 which can be found at Micheals or Hobby Lobby it is the same as Shoo GOO and works really well on the plastic tanks you do need to hit the tanks with sand paper to scuff them but this stuff really sticks well.

Has anyone use premapoxy?? advance autoparts stores carries it.It's a plastic epoxy can be used that on alot of things! even nitro tank repairs works awsom. works great on plastic wood and metals and super with fiberglass. I would glue/epoxy two tabs on that tank and make two wooden blocks for hold downs so you can bolt the tabs too. just remember sand/rough it up with 80 grit sand paper so the epoxy can get a realy good grip on that tank and hull.

jerry,, the plugs happened before the tank came loose.....

thanks for all suggestions,,, another thing i thought of was 40/50 or 40/40 autobody plastic bumber repair,,,,,,semi flexible,,super bond,, great product....ive used it a ton of times on vehicles being in the autobody bussiness....but never a nitro tank... ill have to do some expeirimenting....

the tank has been scratched with 80 grit right from the get go...

industrial grade velcro - 3m part # MP3541/42. this is for a large roll, 5 yards. but the # should lead you to smaller amounts, if available. honda uses this stuff to hold up headliners in cars! it works, & is removable, just work up a corner & pull .

I like the 3M marine grade silicone it's white and nitro don't seem to mess with it. I get mine at Home Depot

I have used the vecro method before workd great opnly if you keep everything clean, right now i have cut out a piece of wood surronded it around the tank with hooks slide it back in the bow of the boat and put noodles in to hold it sturdy. Robert

Try PC-7 to grab onto a plastic tank, available in most hardware stores.
