Have you checked with Radio South.
Back in the day, they were the "go to" for radio repairs

They still around?....back in the day they 'hot rodded' my 3EGX and made a lot of improvements to it, especially range.
Worked very well with one of those short, loaded heli antennas.

sorry.. meant 4PK.. a new transmitter antenna was needed.

well.. you will have to keep checking the vintage forums.. that system came out in 1992!
