Will going full throttle mess up an engine? if model engines are like real engines, wouldnt it be like red lining the engine? what do you think?

WWWWHOA! i couldve sworn there was only one choice before. i think my internet is playing tricks on me

Model engines are pretty darn tough little machines. Consider...chrome lined brass liner, ringless piston, aluminum rod, bushing rod bearings, hollow cranks (outboard) and they will sing a long time at 25,000+ rpm. Full throttle does not hurt them. Running hot, lean, a big dose of water at W.O.T, 50,000 rpm during a flip.....all of that is what hurts them. Learn the proper way to break in a new engine and you can run an engine full thottle the rest of its entire life.

the only real danger is that you do not do this while on shore. you can damage (trash) the motor by over revving it without it being under load. i.e. Prop In the water.

Of course selecting a prop that is to small for the motor could also damage the motor.

WFO :D :D THEE Only way to run it in the water.

Dont rev it up out of the water, Like Grim said.

But let her rip in the water. Some single needle carb/engine set ups, Dont like to run but wide open.

Dorkhedeos, the only way NOT to shorten the life of an engine is Not to run it at all!

Just fire it up, set the needle and squeeze the trigger till it stops. these are race boats........

Well put..

or in other words.. drive it like you stole it! when you do break something we'll be here to tell you how to fix it :)

Shortens life??? I mean the P/S does wear, but not from running full throttle.

If you think about the RPMs these engines run, you wouldnt think they would hold tougher.

Now if you overheat it, or run it lean, that will damage it at high speeds.

keep it on a tad rich side, and let give it hell.
