Yesterday,new glow ignition came in...so much better than stupid alkaline batteries.They are expensive and do not last worth a crap.The rechargeable works like a charm and started this thing in seconds.Finally was able to get the carb setup well enough to where I can take it to water for a run.But I still need to choose a spot I can easily retrieve it. I would hate to not be able to get it back or beg someone to get it for me.I have one place in mind where if it does stall out,will come back to me downstream in short time.But a bit too narrow for turning.Great for long straight runs though.Still debating where to go so need to scope it out more.Plenty of waterways in my area so will see.

Your Welcome,get a closed face fishing reel with a tennis ball at the end of the fishing line & use it for short range boat retrieval & a electric model boat for long range retrieval using it with the fishing reel line on the back of the electric boat. Once you learn with that model boat,you'll want something faster down the road.

I have heard about this method for retrieval.
The boat is running nicely with the new carb and ready for a real time run on water soon as I can locate a good spot where there are no weeds and large enough to make turns.Also have another boat I snagged at a garage sale and have it ready to go.Both running great and ready to go.The second boat is an air boat and will be much easier to run just about anywhere.I just happened to have a KB .45 for it,fuel tank and servos that work with the RX/TX that came with it.A 10 dollar investment...not bad.

Didn`t happen yet but will for sure get video of both running in water.
The airboat will be much easier and could test that in a creek not too far from me.If it stalls out I can easily get it back as the water flows slowly right to a walk bridge where I can snag it up.The faster boat could probably be run there too,but I do not like the lack of turning room...but has a good straight runs.
Not familiar with handling may not be good idea there as more room may be needed for a rookie.For sure need a spot and a small boat to retrieve it which seems the hardest part to me.Looking for a spot where some cool boaters hang out Lots of docks and water around here that will work great but need to find people that are not uptight.Not everyone will be like me and say...WOW...THAT THING IS COOL !!

Air boat runs great after replacing the needle valve with one new along with new carb I had in the box after all these years.Airplane servos worked on the receiver that came with this boat.Small modifications to mount the engine and ready to go.Antenna was made from a guitar string...I used 2 lengths and soldered them together with a copper fitting into the boat where I soldered the RX antenna lead.Being an amateur radio op...even used the proper wavelength for 75mhz. Wide open test I had to hold the boat from sliding away.The tank was mounted there because there was no room under the engine and did not like it there anyhow.The muffler was poorly designed using a long threaded rod to hold the baffle and end cap on...it always fell apart so drilled and tapped with screws...the end.You can see there is a pressure tube to fuel tank.Have never heard this engine run so well.A bit bummed about the terrible rubber cup that came with the starter...just a terrible piece of crap as you see the rubber on the spinner.It was a new/used starter and think that rubber is dry rotted.

Well...was a fun test run but not enough turning space.I think a flat bottom hull would have turned sharper.But it moved along pretty good in the creek.Later it would not turn enough and went ashore across the creek.It was brutal hike through the heavy brush but got it back.Need a larger pond to play in

That was a good test spot as the creek slowly runs to a nearby walk bridge...easy to get it back that way but still too narrow...the mono gonna needs a lot more.Still trying to sort out a good spot where I can drop a row boat in to get it.Think I found a spot...no one locally knows much about who maintains or runs this large waterway but it sure looks great for fast boats.I posted to local RC Boat group,but no comments about it -

Been awhile but had issues with my mono boat remote control.The battery holder had some sort of issue and had to make a battery pack and power connector of my own.Works great now and hoping to get it to the large waterway we just discovered.Still working on how to get my retrieve boat there.Meanwhile,took the air boat for another run on my mothers pond near the camp over the past weekend.All was great until the rudder control arm broke free.Old boat...old glue or poor choice of glue by previous owner.Short video...my mom cut it short But a few laps in,I had to beach it when I realized it would not turn.

Haha...yeah it sure is. I need to see about plugging the over flow drain.It has rusted over the years and releasing too much water at low level.Boat cut right through it but a boat with a prop will never make it there.

That looks to be a Youngblood. Muck boats were wider and taller boat without a lip around the edge. A Youngblood was a stretched narrower copy of the Muck.

Finally took this boat out for a first time run...for me the first.
I took advice and set it up rich until I could see how it behaved...then bring it in to tune until it ran faster and cleaner.But sadly,after the first 1.5 laps it bogged out and upon retrieval,knocked the water feed off the rudder against a rock as I reeled it in.So ended the day fast.I was eager to tweak the carb and try again but needed tools and glue for that job.I will get it ready for another run asap.Maybe someone can hear if it was a too rich setting as why it bogged out? Video is not great...we were juggling boat launch and video recording.

Yup, sounds super rich, mighta just loaded up and died. Or could be over propped or have the pipe too short.

Fire it up on the stand and pull the trigger to full throttle, it should hesitate for a second or two and just clean out. If it cleans out quick it's lean, takes forever to clean out it's too rich.

What prop you running? How long is the pipe from the glow plug to the start of the rear cone ? (use a tape measure or string and follow the center of the header and pipe for your side exhaust)

This thread has all details but this boat was purchased used at a garage sale and setup by looks to be a pro that previously owned it.Images and such on previous comments at the begiunning here.This is what we determined here and on various forums.I had rebuilt the engine as everyone said it was best to do so...had it out and tested,carb setup after finding a replacement sent to me by a guy in Texas who saw my search to replace the crappy Perry that was on it.Now has an original OPS carb and I set it up like you said...slightly rich...some hesitation when full throttle then SCREAMING !
Lots of smoke and was told it will lean out when dropped in water under load.But it sat for weeks so was planning to try setting it again...but as you see I broke the water pickup and could not resume more tuneups.Everyone made suggestions months ago on this project to help me out and all has been done right to tuneup and test run.I am just looking for suggestions using my first run video as you guys know way more how these things work and expect.I am 100% new,was my very first run ever with an RC boat.If I was to guess,I need to get it back and test and tune more...trying leaner setup.I am glad to finally post this run...been a long time coming as you can see in previous posts here.

It has been some time since we discussed this boat...I would need to look back myself for all that info.
I was under the impression we already went through that stuff and was at the last step of setting the carb to run rich and tossing in the water then going from that.I will need to go back and re read my previous info but guessing the prop is an X440 out of pure memory.Everyone already said that was good to go as was the pipe...etc.If you remember,we were at the part where that PERRY carb was a piece of junk,and a guy sent me an OPS carb for free like new.It tunes nicely now and runs way better since that was replaced.
Let me look over previous info on this thread...most I forgot what we already went over.Still using 15% Omega fuel,new glow plug sent by an OPS guy.
