So just follow Jims format- I was gonna reference the old format-but

That also seems to have changed as of late-

We went back to the old rules as it was clear most of you wanted the old format.

The rules are fairly simple. The only time a Post may be added to your original Post, is if you lower your price, then you may add a Post with the lower price listed. ALL For Sale items must have a Price and Pictures listed, or your Post will be DELETED. DO NOT send PM's about buying or questions, make them public for ALL to see. If you have a good or bad deal you can Post that in the Buyer/Seller Feedback Section.

If your wanting to buy, looking for, or trading, only legit and honest Edits, or Posts can be made.

NO Ebay Links, or Links to other items selling elsewhere.

If you don't have pictures when you list your item WAIT until you have them, THEN list it.

NONE OF THIS: I will post them later, I will post them tonight, I will post them tomorrow.

If you put an item up for TRADE it MUST have a price listed as well.

If there isn't a Price and a Picture IT WILL BE DELETED

Wanna cry about back door trading- dont happen if you follow it..... ;)

And IMHO opinion, If someone says -

I will take it- its sold to the person that said it- period......

No he or she beat you in a pm-

THATS BS

Whatever is being sold....belongs to the person that is selling it. I don't like shady deals, but truth be told, it belongs to them, and they can sell it to whomever they want to, for whatever price they want to.

What I would like to see is when a item is sold that you post a "DELETE" in the header bar so it can be removed and not clog others stuff for sale when it sits stale and idle in the forum. I would also like to see that a member have a minium of like 25 posts before being allowed to post for sale, thus giving everyone some time to be comfy with a person before shelling out our hard earned measley pennies. I used to write and belong to a gun site and you could not post in for sale sections unless you had 50 posts to your name.

exactly sean .. no one is telling them they cant sell it for a certian price .. it is just the sale tactic that is in question.. let me ask you this.. if you wanted a boat i had really bad, had the money and when you saw it for sale , you post first and then you pm me to make sure i got it and seen it before anyone ..to make sure you are first in line, then a hour later i post it was sold and it was not you .. and you know you got ahold of me first , would that be right sean..? i really hope your answer is no , becuase i would be upset and feel ike i was treated unfair, when a post is made in the for sale area , yes that is their property and when they put it up there it is made available to any and all the inquire about it, it is kinda common practice to be fair and sell it to the first that says they want it, if not then it is shady if you ask me.

I belive that a person has a right to sell to whoever they want But if you are using a forum to do so and that forum has rules for posting and selling they must be followed IW DOES NOT HAVE ANY SUCH RULES YET

It sucks Terry, I am not saying it does not...but look at it like this. You are selling your truck for 10K...some guy offers you 9k and your are thinking about it. Your brother comes along and says, "dude, I didn't know you are selling your truck, will you take $8,500 for it??"

Me...I would probably sell to my brother for the $8,500...

Again, I agree that it sucks to have something sold out from under you, when you were probably the first to respond. But...it is their item to do with as they want...

I probably would not deal with the person again if it happened to me though...Kind of hard to justify if someone said they would buy an item at full price, then they sell it to someone else (more money?? Buddy?? Who knows...).

The picture thing I can kind of agree with...but what happens when someone does not have a digital camera?? Makes it complicated for those not so tech savy to sell items here.

hi all i am looking for answers here if anything.. i recently posted to a ad that i would buy the person's item.. then the old story .well someone sent me a pm before you did.. as a member of the "dock" as well i like the new policy to keep backdoor deals from happening..no pm's ..post here and it is set and no arguements. what do you all think? i had this happen on a good deal for some plugs late winter early spring..1 min after i seen it come up i pm'ed first and then posted first i would take them.. then no response from the seller then a "buddy" of his pm'ed him "just before" i did and he gets them.. kin of agrivating if you ask me, why not just make it a post only section to keep the arguements down, if you post first you get it.. if you change your mind then next post in line and so on.. it just happened agian a little while ago and while im not mad im a tad bit frustrated. what do you all say has the same happened to you guys?

Terry its going to be up to the seller everytime. He has already paid for it. Ownes it... & it is his discrecion how he gets rid of it. I have sold many things. Sometimes you get messages or cell Phone calls, fax, email, personal ims, from others interested in for/sale items.. Maybe you should ASk the seller how he plans to do it..... instead of TELLING Him how he is going to do IT....... Most sellers are very fair.... also consider. Everybody dont Have to Receive Pay pal. Many on this site pays CASH & Money orders....... There are some GREAT BUYERS & Boaters on the Intlwaters site.

If you want to sell to the one you want.... Then sell it to them. but not here.

If you put a item on ebay how to you control the buyers there?

it has to be fair to all or don't do it here.

jw .. maybe we do need to make a poll on here to get people to vote it in? for the new rules section...don if he wanted to could implement them and i am not trying to step on dons toes i guess iwas looking for others comments to what i was bummed about..that would be fair since we are all members here and have a voice? it would be the most fair thing i think that could be done??

I have bought a fare amount of stuff off of here and I think a "post here only" and a "must have pics" sounds good.I'm in ;) I think it might help to hold down the scammers.we all know a thief is lazy

personaly don't we have enough RULES AND REGULATIONS in our life without having to mess with more.

i have lost out on stuff to.. guess if i couldn't get it it wasn't meant to be.

as the beatles song once said LET IT BE, LET IT BE..

All this is great and I feel that forum sales should be up front and fair with first come first serve. But the admin might feel if rules were posted that way it would add to the policing involved in keeping the site flowing smoothly. I believe the honor system can self police itself, repeat offenders of these unwritten rules quickly find it isn't worth it to not do it the right way or buyers figure them out and don't do business with them. But guidelines(not rules, rather merely suggestions to smoother dealings)could still be writen nonetheless for people that have other ideas about the proper etiquette to selling stuff on a public forum.

Pix can sometimes be a pain to post in here so picture hosting sites should be OK.

Remember the "Sniper" that I typed about earlier? Well, I bought a gas Cat hull from him and in his post he failed to put in shots of the bottom which was trashed but had plenty of convenient shots that didn't show the damage. In the ad he talked about a little spiderwebbing in the 'glas and stress cracks but it was busted up badly with chunks of gel-coat and 'glas MIA. This person built the boat like an amateur yet had a rep that you'd think would have done much better. After complaining online about how bad that thing was, it almost cost him his business. I finally got my money back and he his hull. I had pix to prove it and sent them to other prospective buyers so that they were forewarned as he placed the same ad again with the same shots.

I would like to see a Buyer/Seller Feedback forum in here but the only people allowed to comment would be those that had direct dealings with the person, no 2nd or 3rd party hearsay. Links to bad feedback to verify might be something allowed.

Well I plan to have the 2009 CMDI & MANY more RACE PROPS Sale in about 3 weeks...... IT WILL BE FIRST COME 1ST SERVED. about 98 percent of the transactions will be smooth as glass. some will drag up about paying!!!! so you try to allow a little grace period.... then relist. Never posted a single pic...... & have already sold 100`s on IW... if you have special interest in a item & it is for sale?? you can always contact via personal message & request pics or payments in private. if a guy is selling an engine do you really need a picture? & if you get the pics What does it prove???

Some sites make you post a pic or you are not allowed to sell. It has to be a pic not a link. As for first come first get, not sure about that even though I have lost out to a back door deal. If I'm selling something and 5 guys want it should it go to the first guy or the guy i have been friends with for 15 years????? as it is mine to sell.

just my 2 cents
then offer it to your friends first...and NOT here <_<
I know to many people to tell them all I have some thing for sale. If some one is selling some thing and is listed firt come first serve then it should be that way. Other than that it is up for sale and put your name in for it and hope for the best becouse no were on here does it say it has to go to the first person. Like I said it has happend to me it sucks but that is the way it is.

my 2 cent again

Regulations and more regulations! If you see a item for sale here, and the seller says.... Sorry no pictures, then dont buy the item. Pictures often cant show specific details of an item for sale anyways. It all boils down to trust, and integrity. Richard D

Rules and regulation . Don't we have enough of them in are every day life!

This is a hobby to enjoy and have fun. I do this to get away from all the BS with my life not to be told what I can and can not do. Get enough of that at work.

If people are that up tight and anal it sounds like a personal problem don't make it every one else's problem.

Just don't buy any thing.

David

Questionable sellers will always find ways to work around any controls or regulations implemented.

I've won and paid for items on e-bay just to have the sellers claim that they misplaced, lost or "accidentally" shipped the item to someone else. If they refund your payment e-bay will take no action against them. Your only recourse is to leave bad feedback.

Bottom line is that a flake seller will always be a flake......
