Back 10 years ago it was pretty much the following Hitec 645/225 rudder, 85/82 throttle and 3rd channel

What is everyone's favorite servos to run now in comparable sizes? I still hope to use my old 4PLS to run them.

Not looking for the best of the best and not looking for bargain bin either!

Thanks for your input

I have been using Savox for the most part.
The 0250MG for throttle & 3rd channel needles.
The 0230MG @ 111in.oz of torque for rudders in everything up to 1/8th scale boats
The 0231MG is slightly taller than the above, but bumps the torque up to 208in.oz
I have also used the SH-0256 for smaller boats outside of the radio box. But I do disassemble and spray internals with Trio Tech spray for water protection.

Savox. Been using them for 10 years. I have only had an issue with one. I only get the waterproof one and they seem indestructible and easy on the wallet.

Savox 1212 on steering and Savox 1210 on the throttle.

Or just put 1212 in both spots so then you only need to carry one spare.

These red 20kg Miuzei servo's are in practically every boat. Sans for a couple promodeler and a hitech in my .21 rigger. They are extremely reliable and high quality. and just over $10 each. I'd put them up against any brand in heartbeat.

In fact I splurged on my last build on a promodeler throttle servo and instantly regretted it because its so loud and clunky compared to these $12 units.

Thanks for all the recommendations! Have yet to make up my mind, I was leaning towards Savox before the post but. Great to see so many options available.

I have had wonderful results with ecopower servos
110t and 120t they are waterproof and I've been running them for 3 years without an issue and they have gobs of power

Ha!!

I still have some old “World” 1/4 scale servos that had a separate battery supply… they would fold up a 4-40 pushrod with ease… 😳

And the old S-134 1/4 scale Futaba were about the strongest servo you could buy without a separate battery in the old days… still have a few of those too.. 😁

I think my twin eagle I built years ago has an S-134 in it for the rudder… 🤣

Hahaha. My Dad ran a worlds quarter scale in a Gator, we were not as Impressed as you. Glad those days are over. I love the standard size servos that will blow those away we have today. Although the slow speed of the worlds would help some people if they were on their rudders hehehe .

They were slow as molasses… but they had a lot of torque! The square servo arm was the downside…and a single tiny screw to hold them on..

I remember one guy in the club had two of them ganged together in an old spider avenger…
What the hell were we thinking back then ???
🤣🤣🤣
Probably would have pulled the bottom out of the radio box it the rudder ever locked up!!
🤣🤣🤣

I still have some S- 7 Futabas and brand new Worlds !

Tom, weren’t the Worlds originally something like 56 oz/in? I filled up a 20 yard dumpster with old model stuff when we down sized and moved.

The ones I had may have been 1/3 scale even… they had a lot more than 56 oz/ in …

They had a white case, mounted flat on their side and didn’t have mounting ears like a regular servo, the case was the mount and screwed down with 4 screws.. it also had it’s own power cord for a battery pack…
4.8 volt,, but on 6 volt nicad packs they were a monster back then… 😁👍
