Well, a while ago l bought a Electric set up off Kris Flynn. Ive been putting it aside for a while but when I entered it for a big race next week I had to pull my finger out and get her done. So get her done l did!

The boat is a Kris special, it has in this pic a Hacker motor but will be run with a SV27 motor for "P-Spec"

Im seriously itching to run this thing! B)

ROCK ON

Another electric boat in AUS.

Is that one of Kris 30inch hulls or 33inch ones. Cannot tell by the pic.

Im running a 33inch with my MAC 21 and 4s Nue powered one which will be done some time soon.

His 30 inch version is freaking fast. They are a great design.

Post a video of it running when you get it on the water.

OH CRAP! I just remembered that I have to race that thing!!!

Looks AWSOME with a new paint job...I might have to set my one up and race it in P-SPEC...hmmm or should i run the Vision? LOL Descision, descisions...

Dave that is a 30" with one of your sexy Glass cowls

Can't wait to see her run!

Kris

I guess i best make several cowls now that there are more people getting your boats from you.

Have a stock pile - pick them up at bris in july. <_<

I'll stick with my trusted old villain S1 with stock power on it for now.

There should be quite a few electric OBT out there in Aus now

Dave

This was my old boat we raced in Yarrawonga at the Nats or BoB

We have 5 P-Spec boats and 1 Cat running at the masters next weekend...should be sweet!

Kris,

I have the hacker on it so i can trim it up this weekend.. ive still had no luck with the SV motor taking solder.

Going to try it at Tims place on Sunday ;)

Will keep you posted on that issue...

P SPEC WHOOO WHOOO YEAH! hahahahaha

oh crap!!!

Its the old boat that you raced and whooped everyone at the nationals with.

You will have fun with it.

What have you got to solder on to the SV motor. I have replaced my 3mm plugs with 5.5mm ones than back again with no issues. Used a 80W wella soldering iron 50/50 solder and some bakers flux. Worked easily. Just a spray and wipe when done to get the flux off and shrink wrap.

Take a video of it when you get it going on sunday.

_____________

5 spec OBT's thats great.

Come to Bris in July guys for the Bris thunder electric bash. You will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, great food the club does.

There could be 2 heats of OBTs if all the southern guys make the trip up.

Dave

If my soldering iron won't do it, nothing will! (superscope transformer based iron)

My ESC and programmer arrived thru the week - so I'm another step closer to P-Spec tunnel goodness. Just got to rework the hull, get some connectors, and then buy the lipo's. Do you guys use a separate rx pack or use the BEC from the ESC?

I got to have a little run yesterday in open water but it was just too rough

way to hard to trim a boat in those conditions!

Once we figured out the programming on the esc it was fun but VERY different

what is the aprox finished weight of your p-spec's? i just got a leecraft (used) that i was considering for mine but the bare hull seens heavy. i wanted to stack everything up and see if it will be the ballpark before building it. i think it allready has wieght added to the nose. if it turns out to0 heavy i just asume throw a OS on the back of it. the reason i got it is i have an older one (built buy tommy) that is super light. it is about the same weight as this one rtr less the nitro motor.

Using an OLD beat up/repair Villain S1 (glass cowl) comes to aroun 2400g (5.3 Lbs) this is with 4s 5500 hyperion packs (595g) OS lower, UL-1 motor and controller

On Friday we can plug it in to my laptop and set the settings a bit easier and make sure they are set to what you think ;)
Dose this mean I won't have to set it all the time??

I'm knew to all this so it's kinda confusing lol

You should only need to set it once and it will stay the same till you chance transmitters...timing settings won't change either.

So we will set it to what it should be (-20 on the timing LOL) and forget ;)

Well big thanks to Kris! After some work we got some issues sorted out on my tunnel

and it's first fast run it pulled 69kmph.

Now she needs some work to trim her out and I'll be very happy

Glad we got that thing going in the end...it was a blast, pity the Castle played up in the last heat, bloody typical.

Note: When Upgrading firmware on controllers to 1.04 (castle) you need to also put in a throttle and brake curve for it to work LOL

i have had zero luck with 1.04v i still use the 1.03 version. there was alot of talk about the timing settings being wrong on the 1.04.

Ahh you figured it out in the end Kris. :p

Awesome fun to race these things, anyone looking to get into P spec... get an OB P Spec!

They are just SOOO fun to drive and quick too!
