Simple question, I havent sold aynthing on e-bay in about 1.5 to 2 years, what are the fees and is paypal worth it.

dont want to hear your horror stories, is it worth it or not ?

thanks B)

Joe,

I do a lot of buying and selling on eBay and I completely believe that it is worth it. As long as you don't list a high reserve price for your auctions, the fees are very reasonable (often times under $1 with 2-3 pictures). As for Paypal, I think we all have had issues at one time or another with Paypal, but overall, I would definitely sign up for an account and verify it so you no issues. Because I have had so many people claim to send out a money order in which I never received, I ONLY accept Paypal on my auctions and I require payment within 3 days of auction close. I have had plenty of good luck with buying/selling on eBay, so I recommend you give it a try :)

Ooops, I forgot to add that there is another fee that you will be charged but it is like 1% of the final selling price which I think is reasonable. And Paypal does charge a 3% fee, but this fee usually doesn't amount to much unless you are selling something high dollar which I know some of these boats can reach :)

eBay certainly gives you a wider customer base than just posting in a forum. The downsides include that it costs to list and you have to accept the final price, unless you set a reserve, which ends up costing more in fees. I've sold some stuff there, but most of the boating stuff I just list in the for sale forum here. Less work to list and I can set my asking price.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a try again, I was aware of the fees in the past, so I guess not much has changed. I always liked it to get the maximum value for what you sell.

enough said.

Fees vary from 6%-10% (Ebay + Paypal fees) depending on what you sell, the final price, and how you list your item. Not bad. A typical finders fee is 10%. I go with forum first then Ebay.

I have had very good luck with both Ebay and Paypal. I would suggest open another bank account for Paypal, most accounts are free these days, just for safety. One other thing, don't reply to an Email that looks like it is from Paypal to up date your account. That is a scam.
