Gee, maybe the rules should limit power plants in a way that will keep costs down, like the Super V 27 class or the spec OPC class. You could even do this with a sport hydro class. All use an inexpensive brushless motor and lipos.
Yah... that's what we want.... all spec racing all the time...

We have spec classes available already if people are interested in racing on a tight budget that cover Monos, Sport Hydros, and Tunnels...

But I forget, limiting boat length will automatically force people to make inexpensive power plant choices.
Lohring Miller
Sounds like you have it all figured out Lohring... <_<

We start our race season tomorrow here in Washington... maybe you should come hang out for awhile and get to know the FE side of the hobby in the area you represent and get to know the technology and some of the people trying to "ruin" the hobby...

Sorry for the Hijack, Eagle... The recommendation given by Capt. Ron and PropNut are good... Dead realiable, Fast, and Fun... A little spendy, but definately a good option... Bigger boats are just more expensive to run... they just take more power to propel... Kind of a laws of physics thing...

If you get a chance, read Jay Turner's article in the latest RC Boat Modeler magazine... he clearly explains the costs involved, and what the benefits/drawbacks between choosing low end vs. high-end equipment... Very well written...
