It's really starting to howl now. Winds are up to 50-60 mph. Earlier we had 3 tornadoes pass through town, killing two people and damaging about 70 homes. A town 40 miles north of me, Marianna, just had 4 tornadoes rip through town causing extensive damage. Still got power but it blinks every now and then. About 30 miles to the west of me, winds are being clocked at 73+. Now would be a good time to take some of me dog boats outside for a minute so I can put them on ebay and brag about it doing more than 60mph  Here's apicture I took when Opal came through. I call it "reduced off season rates"

I want to move to the east coast in about ten years, but this kind of weather is really scary. I don't know how you guys down there, live there knowing this kind of weather can come with almost no notice and destroy everything you have worked for. We have friends that moved out of their house yesterday. They told us there was already 20 + ft waves.

We joke around about our weather here on the west coast, but seriously our hearts and minds are with you.

Guy's I cant believe this......There is still another one brewing .....Jeanne

Here is a pic,

I can't believe the wierd weather going on.

You guys are really getting hammered with bad weather! Meanwhile on the other side of the globe we desperately need rain....

Stay safe guys!

Take care over there folks....

Remember if ya gotta evacuate dont go running around gathering your favourite possessions..... just go!!!!- better being alive with no boats than dead with your favourite rigger....

The Atlanta Boat Club had decided, "that if there are thunderstorms or unsafe conditions, they will not run the race as scheduled".

That is not an outright cancellation statement, but I am taking it as such for me. When a hurricane is still within 300 miles and rain forecast of 8" - 24" for the Atlanta area I consider that to be too much to risk for a model boat race.

That is the latest information. Please remember our friends in Mobile, Pensacola and Panama City FL being pounded.

Wow, what a night! Hurricane force winds hit about 3:00am this morning. What a rush! Fell asleep on the couch sometime after that. Woke up about 45 minutes ago and went out to see if everything is in one piece. Got cought in a squal and got soaked. neighbor lost a tree but it didn't land on anything. Heard on the news that the hiway patrol in Marianna found a car in a tree and upon investigation, discovered people (alive) in it! Bettcha that was a sobering experience? Here's a couple more pics showing the wind and the tree. I hope the folks in Atlanta come to their senses and cancel or postpone the race. This storm is serious stuff and they're next.

And the tree. Kinda blurrie though. The wind is still kicking up and I was exposed. Look how the trees are bent!

Here's a satillite shot at about 4:30 yesterday when about 20 tornadoes started training through the area (one behind the other in rapid sucussion). 3 within 3 miles from my house. The puffy clouds are thunderstorms that were traveling about 50 mph through the area. Chris Fabbro lives in P'cola. Don't know how he faired.
