I get what your saying now with dead swing - as I often check that and your described method after running- just didnt have a name for it

Has the tunnel blew off in rough conditions and sucked water on a running engine?..     Theory.   A hydro lock may be damaging the rod bottom end but..   who knows...  I was on oil starvation for a minute until Charles shed light..... makes sense easily with the scuffing...   itll take a machinist with indicators and whatnot to find the crank is at fault...  who knows... buy parts and find it.... as sooner or later the failures will cost more than a new one, so.... Carl is spot on with the maintainance and test pattern he does... im glad im not the only one... ive felt bad bearings ticking after oiling up, and numerous issues that saved me grenades next test session... rod slop... I caliper my crank pin in numerous orientation, and the rod bottom end also..  ( they will be egg shaped and show it), but anwhere from 4 to 5 thousandths slop , and im getting nervous....   idk... diligence is the key... good luck and test er up...
