Great on the plans.. I'll see if Mary ( :-*) will let me hide in the work shop for awhile.. Heck, I need a new boat for my 3.5 anyway! Making the cowl will be the PITA of this project. Maybe someone on the forum can make a CF version for us.. 8) I'm certain I can make a foam plug for it after building the boat.

Whats the 'norm' for a SAW in the tunnel width? Some years back, I bought lots of boats/equipment from a lady getting out of the hobby. She had a one-off boat her boyfriend made. This boat, as she told me, would go great in a straight line ;D, but wouldn't turn to save the world. Tunnel is at 5 - 9/16"..

Hey Mark,

The magic number is anywhere from 5 1/2" to 6 1/4", My new boat will be 5 1/2" And yes you are correct SAW hulls do not turn well, but they dont have too, line em up, make the run, flip a 180 do the backup run and yer done. You can use the hole end of the pond if ya need too. Generally I'll chop to half throttle and just do a slow 180.

The lower deadrise angles (under 14 degrees), Mine is at 12, dont help the turning either,

Thanks man.. One of these days I'll strip the paint off and give it a nice paint job. See what'll it do.. I got a motor in mind, but hey, where did my purple carb go?? : Heard they do real well for SAW ;D
