Bored at Work 30" Tunnel

Figured I would put this here considering I put the last "bored at work" thread here. Here is the Tunnel that Dale asked for.

Again, I am emphasizing that I am just messing around. I have no idea about the design of tunnels.

Re:Bored at Work 30" Tunnel

I really like that sloped rear of the sponson. There's a really sharp guy out there somewhere that just finished a new Tunnel Design with that feature. I think it will help shift the Hull-Lift component rearward at speed……looks good too ;D

that sloped sponson adds a good 10mph to the boats static speed :p

It would be great if you could get a CNC to crank out that shape in foam, so that it could be fine-tuned with sandpaper to its final shape.

Re:Bored at Work 30" Tunnel

Wicked looking cowl, but what you'll need to consider now is how to fit a radio box to hlod two to three servos, a receiver, an on'off switch and a battery pack with space for the linkage to operate. Also a large enough tank and maybe a hopper.

This is kind of a problem that DPI had. Very slim and narrow cowl w/no room to work under.

Nice design though!

Re:Bored at Work 30" Tunnel

I see what you mean with the cowl. maybe I can widen it a little & still have the same look. I will have to play with it some more.

Ben, I'm glad you like it. I figured, that some of the sponsons on riggers are designed with a slopped back so why not a sponson on a tunnel.

Re:Bored at Work 30" Tunnel

Ok, I modified the cowl. It is wider & slightly taller in the mid-section while maintaining the look. What is everyone’s opinion? :-

Re:Bored at Work 30" Tunnel

front view.

I modified the top of the sponsons slightly, I sloped them down a little.

Wade,

My opinion - WAY TOO COOL DUDE... 8) If you can print out a version of it, send it my way. ;) I'll see what I can do on a WOF version... :D ;D If ya can't print it, send me the cad file.. Someone at work has a blueprint printer, so I can get it done there.. He's already printed out some of the FF12 plans for me.

Re:Bored at Work 30" Tunnel

ObNut,

Glad you like it! ;D

Right now it is a soild model, no 2D plan, but I can print out a 4 view plot & send it your way.

Re:Bored at Work 30" Tunnel

Nitro toys,

It is really boreing :( most of the time.

As far as a prototype, it depends of how fast ObNut can build!! LOL!! ;D

Ob Nut, I printed out the plans, & will send them to you on my way home from work tomorrow.

Re:Bored at Work 30" Tunnel

I'll work on that in the morning ;) , I don't have anything else to do anyways..... 5 days & counting. :'(

Re:Bored at Work 30" Tunnel

Here you go Gene. I narrowed the width 1" & added (or removed) the cuts that you indicated. ;D

Re:Bored at Work 30" Tunnel

wswatzell,

Ok, bring the standard size sponsons back, keep tunnel width the same. I want to see what the boat will look like this way with the sponsons normal. This way, the cowling looks too big.

Thanks,

Snowdog
