Nah! Got a motor for that already ;D

Got something else in mind though 8)

I had a MAC .21 in my Pay N Pack. I think it was a little over powered for that hull but lots of fun. I had the fastest boat but never finished a race.

Just a little note... Cippiola piston / liners drop into Rossi cases with a liner shim...

Dunno where I would have got that information... LOL

Oh and Valvolas going hard?? mine held the 1/2k oval record in hydro for a while.. was the fastest 21 rigger at the Brisbane Nats and the Bahram nats... and Tony's held the SAW 21 hydro record for years... you just gotta know what to do with them... :)

Okay, wild guess.

The nova crank is for the Nova on your OB. This frees it up for other things like a rigger. The OB crank gets modded to fit the Cippola and you make a Cippola OB? ???

Craig,

I think I probably had bearing problems with my Vavola, but as I said I ran out of rods and liners. I had a nasty circlip incident at our SAW day one year.... :(

Then I bought a novarossi..... 8)

Ian.

Why have you guys had so many nasty blowups???

I have had 5 that I can remember..

CMB 90 rod

Picco 67 Rod and piston

Picco 67 EXR rod

Taipan 3.5 crank

CMB45 crank

...and I have owned a few engines in my time....

Craig,

I have not had that many! In about 7 years of boating I have blown:

Zenoah, gudgeon pin circlip, 3 flywheels.

CMB 21 Vavola, gudgeon pin circlip. (Now you know while I like the circlip-less A motors!)

OPS 21 Pro, 3 rods in a week then the crank (which was the problem all along), bearing cage, finally 4th rod.

A180V, dont get me started....

And that's it! I have not had as many engines as you, but have had a few.....

Nitrocrazed racing: Spare parts backup is not so important if you dont blow it up.....

Possible - depends on the PTO matching the case. It's not what I had in mind though. The Nova Short stroke is going to stay an outboard - I have an inboard nova anyway.

If the crank and PTO are compatable with the nova then there are aftermarket conversion parts available to make it an outboard.

The plot thickens.....

Almost every blow - up I have ever had came back to bearings failing > :( I had an OS81VRM spin a rod bearing but I found the bearing issue before I ran it again and averted a "bang". Had the liner flake in same motor..

The picco 67exr's days are numbered - I have a feeling that Canberra could be the crankshaft's last race meet. If it don't go bang then the pipe's too long!

Tim,

I give up. That is all I could think of.

Try a metal cage bearing failure. Now that is messy..... Clue: if you suddenly take out a plug, and it may be grey in colour, stop running immediately! :(

You mean that carb adaptor is a one race wonder? After all that work.... :p

Ian,

You were closer than you might think!

How about this idea? Still not my plan but something else to consider. Think A180 but with a pair of 21's joined by a common PTO,with one running backwards, and a normal direction 21 running forwards. Back to back 21's in a 2 cyl. with 1 carb per cyl. out 90 degrees to give exhaust stub clearance.

Here's another possibility. Put a TT outboard crank & PTO in a Cipolla and mount it to a TT gear driven O/B leg. 30k at the prop plus loads of torque due to the gear reduction Yeeehaaaa!

Ian,

Dales mate at the CSIRO thinks he can build an unbreakable 67 exr crank. The motor's days aren't numbered -just the crank.

Tim,

Hmmm, he can make cranks. Might be a 30cc project for him to do a crank for! :p

How about this then. You pull the Nova off the outboard, put a gear on it and the other Nova so they are geared together like a Rotax, 1 running backwards, one normal (which you put the flex hex on!)

That doesn't explain the other crank and the Cippola tho...

Hey guys,

Just ran down cipolla engine distributor in the U.S.A., Carlson Engine Imports in Arizona!!

They had aeroengines listed, put in a email asking about marine. Is there anything I need to know specificaly , model #'s, types ?? Their prices seemed very reasonable!!! Waiting on them to email me availability and prices.

THANKS GUYS,

Low cost high pro. engines Italian style!!!
