i need to know what engine to get for my pay n pak if my compition is k & b's. like just about everyone else i am on a buget so should i get thunder tiger, o.s., rossi, nova rossi, ops, ?? what would be my best bet.

I had a Pay n Pak, but mine had a K&B .67, but I no longer have it. I would propably go with a Nova Rossi .21. Did you buy the kit, or get it from someone already built?

Budget is a hard word to use in this hobby but look around for deals, eBay for instance is one place to shop but watch what you buy. Nova Rossi's, MAC's, Rossi's, Picco's and others are good buys. If you want to make that boat look newer, go to www.grimracer.com and check out his cowling for the Pay-N-Pak.

Oops, second thought on the engine after mentioning the cowling, look for a rear exhaust engine so that the pipe will fit under the cowling.

Ron,

By rear exhaust I presume you mean facing the back of the boat? That would limit the selection to MAC 21's or K&B 21's (if you could find one).

In Australia at least probably the best performance for money engine would be the CMB Greenhead 21. I don't know how the prices compare in the US tho, and it has the exhaust facing the front.

Ian.

2Bright,

I would go for a MAC 21 but it will blow your budget,

they just went up about $20.00 because of the money

differences in Italy. It will beat just about any other 21

out there, straight out of the box.

Just A Suggestion,

Mark Sholund :)

Nova Rossi .21. I had one years ago and that was one sweet engine. Started every time, tons of power and rpm's. Loved it!!!

Your best bet is to try and find an old CMB Valvola 21. That way your exhaust is going the right way and you will beat a K@Boom hands down. They are easy to work on and you can find a lot of performance with an hour worth of DremelTime (My favourite time)... If you want to deal with the 180 degree exhaust try a Cippiola PAS 21... nice and cheap but with reasonable horsepower..

If you forget the budget... go the MAC 21. Mine was hauling @$$ straight out of the box and is only getting faster. Never owned a better 21!!!

EMS Racing Hi Ho. Hi Ho. A Dremelling we will go

How much do you want to spend?

I would suggest you get something that parts are readily available for.

Craig,

New Cipolla 21 competition car engine looks sweet! Definately a SC motor from the factory!

Hey I still have a few used CMB Valvola 21s too... and Cippiola PAS 21s BRAND NEW!!! I think you guys may be stunned at the amount of engines I do have...

Oh and I found my CMB 67 ABC with flange welded on for an Exhaust throttle (attached at present)... what a gem!!!

hehehehe

Craig,

The vavola's Riggermortise and I have have a couple of XXL exhaust throttles too. I think we even have a couple of the Ricotti (?) drum and venturi setups for them. Mine ran out of P&L's and rods tho.....

Ian.

One of those old Valvola's showed up at a club day in December! They are coming out of hiding for some reason since the MAC 21 hit the scene ;)

New Cipolla AAC liner attached.

Tim,

Looks neat! Are they having any trouble with the AAC liners? Brett showed me his collection of flaked liners for his 100 at the nats.... :(

Craig,

I have only seen one of those old vavola's go hard, Greg Leigh's in a 21 hydro was much faster than mine ever was in my old rigger!

Ian.

Ian,

Can't say what the AAC liners are like for flaking.

I know of others with 1 cube AAC liners that flake also - maybe a batch issue? Other brands don't have the problems from what I can see.

Here's the crank from the cipolla.

Spec's for the Cipolla.

(porting) 6

(stroke) 16.5

(bore) 16.4

(crankshaft) 13
