Ok, All im saying is something isnt working.... As far as what the other clubs say on there flier about registration they wont turn people away and they would encourage anyone that wanted to race to get there boats out.

It's a form of common courtesy on the drivers part. Drivers would not like it if no one told them a race was canceled and they showed up and no one was at the lake site. Common courtesy works both ways.

With the cost of a club hosting a race prereg is a must. With a zillion available classes letting the club know your coming helps others make up there mind.

I support pre registration,it is the fact that there is no scoring done by anyone but the club, what would it hurt to allow walk ins within reason?if you wanted to charge a few bucks more for that boater or boaters as long as they were ok with it and it is on your flyer.I would not have a problem with that. us Badgers don't want to be sitting around wondering who is coming.......... Really Duke???? the Badgers have always in years past had excellent turn outs, with a lot of good racing, and comradery.classes are dying out, why???? well there are many reasons, cost factors and availbility maybe...gas classes are growing along with elect..unfortuanately there are some people who do not know if their work sched will allow them to race, pre register and not show up,? well I did that this weekend, not by choice, but an immediate family emergency can cause that to happen.but if you pre register and do not show up.then that club has entered you in the heat line ups and classes only ot have to change things,no different than adding a boater. more revenue for the club. just my 2 cents.....Larry

He blamed it on his cowl holding the steering up.

It was probably my coaching in heat 3 and him not wanting to make me feel bad.

or it was his driving. I believe he was within 6" of EVERY buoy the whole race. I could not believe he didn't cut more!!! LOL

Great driving Wayne. Thanks for being my pit man for 1/8 scale.

I suspect in this age of decline that turning away racers from a club or district race is what the really gripe is.

You can say preregistration is best.. and maybe that's true, I like it too.. but knowing that the club us using this just to figure out how many trophy's to "print" does not justify loosing racers. Truth is it seems best to do all you can to "accommodate" the people looking to enter. not easy.. true, but Larry (RC Painter) really did say this best. Its just as easy to wright them out as wright them in.

I like the idea of a preregistration fee and a late fee.. (the $25 dollar figure is a bit much and is saying.. DONT COME.. not like I have not heard that before...lol)

I hope this club and others will do all they can to accommodate in the future...

that's all from me... Time to get ready for my next race..

Mike and others,

Thanks for the input and constructive criticism on the pre-registration topic.

Kenny, thank you for starting this thread about the Badgers race looking for sport 20 and sport 40 boats in District 4. Not one sport 20 or Sport 40 entered. I believe these two classes along with a few others are fading out of interest in D4 (at least at the Badger races) where they were once very popular and six rounds of racing in two days used to interest more racers.

Times change: People move, People golf more, People spend less, People work more, Peoples schedules change. People race less. It all adds up to lower amount of racers in our hobby.

The next D4 race is the Marquette Club race on August third. No preregistration is required for this race. It will be interesting to see what the boat count is and who shows up to race. Everybody coming to the race should try and bring a buddy who doesn't race. We-as boat racers- need to pull people off the couch and promote our hobby. I am trying to convince my wife to go to Marquette on her birthday weekend -or at least let me go race.

/ I am trying Kenny.

We can bicker about preregistration, but if boat numbers were up and all classes filled to max boats per class, people would be eager to preregister. A good solution is in the works at the Badger club.

Lets get ready to race.

It was poor driving, the boat liked the bottom and would work there I just needed to do a better job. Even if it was the cowl, I should have adjusted and moved over a little. Poor result, but a lot of fun. Hope to play again in October.

Big shout out to badger rescue boat crew! Never complained when it rained and rescued boats just threw on ponchos and went after dead and sunk boats. They are the best submarine recovery group around

I may have a Gas rigger ready to run with your twins if you would be open to that at Midlothian?
