The election is over, hopefully ending all of the political ads on TV, radio and online. As predicted on several websites, Vice President Harris won the West Coast & Hawaii, Colorado, New Mexico, Illinois, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and all of New England except Pennsylvania. With the exception of Alaska, Minnesota, Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada, which were still counting votes, Donald Trump won the rest of the country and the election. with 277 electoral college votes. Love him or hate him, he's a definite improvement over who we've been dealing with for the past 3+ years.

I am just having a hard time being excited thinking about the tariffs and what it will do to the normal lower income consumer . I don't see it being easy to convince any company to come back home and build their products. Too much red tape and regulations, also the cost of labor being so expensive compared to what they have now. And that they already made the move and are setup over there, why would they come back? I think all it will do is make everything more expensive in the end and we wont see any cheap items coming from china and other countries after paying customs and tariffs now.

I am glad Joe and the hoe are gone but they already got everything done they wanted . In those four years they accomplished the great steal from Ukraine and using the whole covid fiasco as well as other look here why we do this over here plans behind the scenes .They also finished trashing the dollars value and made us all look like a joke to the world .

Also taking every Americans extra penny of savings and making most just barely able to make it so we have to just keep working everyday just to pay bills and not be able to get ahead.

Everyone in the high ups circle got rich moved everything they needed to around and I think that is why they let trump back to settle the sheep back down and let them forget what just happened.

I can agree with some of what you said, but you also have to look at the reasons behind what Trump has said, so far anyway. Trump is after China, plain and simple:
  • China has a history of using cheap to slave labor to make products for foreign companies. That's how manufacturing plants can make things so cheap
  • China has a history of copying the products designed in other countries, making a slight change to make it different, and selling that product for substantially lower cost than the original product. This was shown very clearly with the Pro Boat hydroplanes. The molds were made in the US, shipped to China for use in producing the boats at lower cost and, a year or so later, a replica started showing up with a slightly different deck shape for much less money. Is that "new" boat a Chinese design?
  • Products produced in China are, by and large, shipped to their destination on ships owned and operated by Chinese companies or, more correctly, the CCP. This means that every product manufactured in China and then shipped on Chinese ships puts more money into the CCPs pockets. This, in turn, funds more stealing of industrial know how and designs. When you look at one of the new Chinese fighters, the wing design is virtually identical to an early version F-15 wing. Again, is this coincidence?
Another goal of the tariffs is to put American workers back to work. There are thousands of people in the US that lost jobs due to production being sent overseas. By forcing the increase in prices through tariffs, it takes away the incentives of sending production to foreign countries. It is already known that China either wants or has plants in Mexico to build electric vehicles. Using local labor and reducing shipping costs, these Chinese EVs would be considerably cheaper than EVs made in the US, thus crippling the US auto makers. By putting tariffs on these Mexican made EVs, it protects the US auto makers from being undercut and potentially bankrupted.

Do the tariffs still sound like a bad idea?

I do really have a problem with china stealing designs.

I just as I said dont see how any incentive could be enticing enough for lets say briggs and stratton to close the mexico plant move back to the usa and start making them here. If they do a 20hp motor will cost the consumer 4000 dollars .
The board of these companies only care about the bottom dollar... They wont take less to put americans back to work that's why they moved away in the first place.

It'll be Vance running for president in 2028. Personally I'd like to see a Vance/Gabbard ticket.
I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!
JD has shown himself to be a smart and capable leader. Since he's prior military, he also knows how to use it.
I would have been happy seeing Tulsi on the ticket this time as well. She's smart and has everything that JD has going for him. I'd hate to be the one running against that combination. It would be, in a word, BRUTAL!!!!!
