pondering the thought of building one of these, anyone running one of these old hull's?? thinking a stinger strut, speedmaster hwd. and tab's, I had a friend who was running one of these back in the early 90's and it ripped with a K&B 45

I still have mine from 22 years ago. I keep it on a shelf to remind me of the good ol days. That thing screamed on calm water but put it out there on rough water with the bigger boats and it was a hand full. It was good about righting itself when it flipped. Alot of times I just kept on going. Might be tough to get a isolated motor mount in it.

I say stick with what is out there to race in its day ya but the seaducers and the speedmasters i dont think you be able to keep up with the technology with that one.

Jeff, I dont have this kit, was just getting expert's opinion on what if I built it, you can order them through Dumas's web site for 51 bux!!..Corey

Cory, I have a 25+ year old 3D Rough Stuff ( One of the few Tom made 40" long ) that is damn near as fast as my Seaducer SD3 (a hand full but fast). One of these days I may mod the strakes on the bottom (since they go all the way back), and throw it in a race or 2 for old times. For $51 a scorcerer with a good build and a good setup in it might be a fun boat.

What is that saying?

If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got.

Boy i havent heard 3D in a very long time Tom was one great guy and i am glad i knew him and had him as a friend. Robert Pickard

I am still thinking of doing this build this winter, a little extra lumber can go a long way with an old kit which was good in the day, just need's to be refreshened!! up to todays standards, with a cmb can .45, we will see what happens, I will keep everyone updated this winter as I build it for pointer's!!

Seeing how this thread got way off track, Dave Homer had 2 of the 3D monos and ran them at my parents lake access. Fast hulls but would barrel-roll in the turns but keep on going like nothing happened. I think that Dave still has the .21 version stashed away that he gets out every once in a while.

Lol, yep, I seen same happen with an old friend I used to run boat's with in the late 80's and early 90's, his scoorcer did that same thing a few time's, on day I had a video camera going and got a blow-over on, tape of that boat, that old vcr tape is somewhere's..lol,, is was fast as anything by todays standard's, but was wicked in the corner's, needed to get of the gas for sure, he had a modded K&B .45 in it, I was allway's impressed with the speed of that hull, I think with some updated building it could be compitive,

Hell yeah go for it modidy the bottom thats what RC is about modifying and making it better screw how old it is make it better and faster.

nothing better than getting beat with old technology just with soime upgrades lol B)
