Hi Guys!

I guess it was bound to happen....... I've got some poor quality junk from an eBay auction, but I never got completely ripped off before!!

Anybody had any experiance with "ChefToni777" a.k.a. "discountking@ade" a.k.a. Toni Wilkerson of Charolettesville, Va.?

The guy has a 95% positive eBay rating, but after a month I haven't heard from him. I've sent more than a dozen kindly worded e-mails, a few telephone calls to his answering machine...nothing!

I'm only out $30, but I really wanted the parts I paid for!!

How many of you have been screwed by e-bay?

Derek
I've had a total of 500 transactions bought & sold. One guy got me for $38 for a junk part. Other than that it's been great so far............ B)

Done my share, some good some not so good. I have dealt with the chef once, worked for me. However I seem to remember hearing something about him being out of town now and then, read on another post somewhere. Keep trying!!! Ya know that buyer beware thing, probably a good thing to keep in mind. I generally will not bid on high ticket items unless I am familiar with the seller. Even then it can be tricky. All depends upon the sellers description and just how much he is willing to disclose. An example, I bought a WOF tunnel form a guy that posts often on here. Figured I would get a quality piece, think again! I am not compaining at all because it is both our faults. The price was only $60 , and he failed to mention that it was a copy and the sponson bottoms looked like the Ocean. I got what I paid for is how I look at it. Then on the other hand I bought an A hydro for $300 that is a very nice piece. Either way e-bay is a big asset for this hobbie!!!

Kevin,

Pleeeeeeeeaze tell me it wasn’t me that sold you that tunnel

I sold this Dunlap Signiture boat once that's giving me a bad case of guilty concience. Even though the boat was hardly used (if not new)...I thought about "donating" it...but sold it in stead. I remember talking (writing) to JD who explained to me that those boats were made by some guy in Singapore who had less than perfecting standards.

Hi Guys...........

I must appologise to T. Wilkerson for calling him a goofball.

I spoke with his mother this evening. I seems he has been ill with something pretty serious for more than a month now.....She promiced to track down my parts and get them to me.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery,

Not long ago I purchased a Seaducer from a guy in Canada off eBay, wasn't packed very well and arrived with the nose busted off. I paid for insurance and it was purchased by the seller, came to find out Canadian Postal insurance is underwritten by a private company and only covers loss and theft, no physical damage. Wound up having to repair it myself, usual story seller claimed good packing, Canadians blamed USPS. The moral of the story is if you buy something breakable from Canada the insurance is NO GOOD. I've done around 700 transactions on eBay. Never a problem. The trick is to only buy from a guy with many positive feedbacks. Just because one or two guys are crooks, don't paint everyone with the same brush.

thanks ................. Randy ebay name ... ''randy_rap''

Richard.

You are correct that regular Canada Post/USPS only covers loss. If any US residence are concerned about damage, they should insist on having it delivered UPS but, be ready to pay almost double for shipping.

Hi Guy's

I've had some good experiences and some bad on Ebay. Been ripped off by some of the worst Ebay scum who change user IDs so fast you can't keep up with them. Mostly had good experiences and have met some good guy's through Ebay that hang out here now (hey RodneyG/KevinB). Even some of the most honest (?) Ebayers often gold coat the descriptions of items for sale - just a standard buyer beware situation I guess.

GT
