Well,.. after my day yesterday, I had time to get this boat ready,.. Got the AA45 fired up. That went well.. CMB needle seems to be working well. Only thing not ready is the water line through the radio box. I will probably run and external line this weekend until I finalize the radio box layout.. Here is the set up.. first runs tomorrow..

Spider did well till I made a mistake... Here is some advice on what NOT to do,.. I didn't have the radio switch in yet,, so I connected the receiver direct to the battery and taped up,.. all is good,.. until I turned the radio off,.. throttle servo went all the way back, rotated the carb barrel past 180deg,.. when I turned the radio back on it was in a bind, couldn't got back,.. and wasted the servo,..

Anther issue.. 2 runs did the same thing,.. motor died after about 90 sec. I have the flat carb mounted AA in this boat. The carb reached over the rear boom and into the fuel tank area. I did not have a drain hole in that tank area. I think some water was getting in there and vibrating up to the carb.. I can't think of any other reason. It was very rich and seemed to run fine..

So what do you guys think? I'm going to add the drain holes and try again next week. After I add the switch of course.

While it was running,.. it was very good.. no hopping yet that I worried about. very responsive in turning..

Mikes doesnt start to unload until he gets into wake. Once the water gets stirred up a bit thats when the ski begins to hop and unload the prop.

Well I guess Ill see more about that next week.. I wonder if the ski is the same? I based it on a known geometry.. we'll see.. maybe it will do the same,...

Are your sponsons adjustable? Water may get into the tub thru the hole used for adjustability. Try putting some type of grommet around the boom tube to cover the hole so no water can spray in there and get into the carb.

Both AOA and tail weight are important on ski boats. Just by moving the battery to the back of the radio box we saw improvements in the hop. Just something to try.

I have the rudder servo and the battery all the way at the back. Ill the AOA,.. for some reason I don't think I have as high of an angle as Mikes.. Yes the rear rubes are adjustable. I will get something there to block that before I run again.. stuck on the road again this week.. Jack where are you with yours?

Mine, is hopping per my front AOA is still too high... strut angle was just a test, too... mine is very very tight yet... and i cant keep the driveline in it.... but will shortly.... minor infractions i just have to push through is all... closer.... just... not in time... Mike...

good news. to my surprise, mine came back from the painter today. starting to assemble things. I don't know if it will be sea worthy for Schaumburg this weekend or not.

what's going on with the drive line?

Jack. To race this boat this weekend you would be in open hydro... from what I have heard there is 2- 40 boats and 2- twins running in open right now. It would be great to see you in the class my friend.
