Good luck with it. What happened with the OPS 1.27?
Sitting in a box.
I just do not think the VAC 91 rod will hold up to the task.
I broke one in the VAC 1.05 eng and also a crank pin.
To many iffy things involved with that eng build up.
Small rod and small crank pin.
This looks more promising.
Bigger rod much bigger crank pin.
Also no piston fit to contend with.
Also it is bigger (1.64) so it should make more power with less nitro.

hey guys, looking for a bit of help, just finished a .67 jae short kit with a .67 green head , got 2 issues, 1st, boat is very unstable, left sponson will lift and rear will hop abit, currently using x462 octura, 25" outside sponson width, changed strut angle and went a bit more vertical with turn fin, still unstable.
second, will only run about 4-5 laps then stalls, plug looks like new and boat is fast (75ish), launches great!, thanks in advance.

Brandon

sponsons are within 1/8 ", boat is hopping abit, possible center of gravity prob?
wrong prop for that boat.
Use the 38 bar ABC prop it will not lift the rear as much. try a 2517 or a 2417
Stock turn fin is no good. To thick boat will do funny things with it.
**** Tindale may make a thin one for that boat.

did a c of g test and front of boat is quite heavy ,cant seem to find 2417, 2517 props
Thank you.

Where is you CG at in relation ship with the turn fin?
Yes those props are hard to find right now for some reason.
Call Harry at Speedmaster he has a good selection most of the time.
2417-19-38 or the 2517-19-38

cg is at 1 3/4 " fwd of the bottom trailing edge of the turn fin, boat is just not stable, Jeff @ Zipkits thought that an x462 should work great!, i really appreciate the reply, there are not to many boaters left in this area to mentor dad and i, THANK YOU!

Brandon.

oh yeah, cg tested with 1/2 tank of fuel
Check with the fuel out of tank. should be close to center of turn fin.
The 19 deg rake will help keep the rear hooked up better.
The thick turn fin is a problem with that boat needs a thinner one.
Makes a big difference in the stability of the boat it will be more predictable and no so much of a do what it wants kind a thing.

Is this a center ski boat ?
Any rear sponsons ? A picture of the rear and underneath of the hull might help us see how things are setup and adjusted...

yes center ski JAE, boat is plenty fast for me (not a racer), just seems very unbalanced, thanks for your response.

Brandon.

Check your turn Fin alignment it looks kind of funny.
Hold your boat with both hands at arms length. now line up the bottom of the hull with the bottom of the turn fin with your eye.
The tail end of the fin should be just a very slight bit higher than the bottom of the tub.
May be 1/16 higher or less.
Also it dose not look like you sharpened the fin?

In your picture of the rudder it appears to crooked, if so that will create problems for sure. Also the 2517-2519 are the props you need to run. I built and ran a 67 JAE with 24" width overall, flat strut, stock turn and 1/2" boom tubes and it run's perfect with no issues. Your boom's look like the 45 boom tubes which may be flexing with the heavier boat, could be an issue. Good luck.
