well guys, i'm shocked with the resalts i had a lot of problems with the engine keeping it running but I had my legs shakeing several times today. the boat with a prather of 215 was going ok, but no top end. very stable, even though the water was chappy on the back shoot. i've put 225 on a lot better, and a lot faster. then i got an X447 and the boat woke up. and to my surprise, the only thing i could see touching the water was the prop and a little bit of the front sponsons. i could see the stuffing tube right out of the water and the boat stuck to the water like glue with a questionable MPH. 50-60 for sure. if i could only get this engine running, i think we will have a rocket in our hands. i cant believe it, that this 2 tank thing on the spons. its actually working. matthew is excited, even though that he didnt have a chance to run the boat, he just sat there quietly waiting for me to get this engine running. at the end i gave up on the engine, we packed up and came home, frozen. :( well, we will keep going at it. but i think the boat a lot of potentail. i will get the 45 painted this week sometime. i have a reliable OPS45 for it, without having any doubt about the engine the 21waits with all the hardware engine and radio complete. 1.9 kilos and the 45 with everything else (except paint) 2.2 kilos, but is much longer than any other 40 boat out there (i think) B)

so i'll keep writing, as long as you guys and girls keep reading.

Thanks,

Cheers

Nick: I had the same experience with the stock Nova Rossi carb as you discribe. Take the carb off the motor and look inside the bore from the engine side. Now, rotate the linkage closeing the barrel and look closely at the low side needle through the slot in the back. I think you will find that no matter how far you crank the low side needle out, it will always be closing off the slot at idle settings causing the motor to scream lean.

There's two things you can do here. 1.) If you would like to keep the low side needle you can nip it off a bit at a time till you get it at the right length to be functional. 2.) Cut it off real short and do away with it like I did.

When Orlic modified my engine I wanted to save a few bucks and not have to buy an aftermarket carb. One of the mods he did was to completly remove the low end side and the third channel and solder that end off. The other carb I'm referring to was an extra stock carb I had that I tried on my daughter's boat. I also found the third channel on this carb to be useless and went to an OS remote before it would run well. Once the stock carb is modified they work fine. Hope this helps...
