if the tubes rip open, all you gotta do is throw a match into the pond and you will have a smoke show

I guess it wont be any different if anyone goes over your cowl and rips the fuel line on any boat?will have to call the clean up guys to get the nitro/oil spill :p

Great thinking "outside the box" Mathew & Nikko! What a boring world it would be if we all did the same thing...

You go bro! B)

ps: check my sig. ;)

Terry

Exactly my thinking. Also anything that give a father and a teenage child some common ground and intrest has got to be worth encouraging.

Hey, if you're designing and building your own stuff you're WAY ahead of 99% of us... ;)

"Go for it"

Keep us advised of your progress with this new idea. This should be fun. In fact it's been kind of slow on this forum lately and I'm getting tired of looking at polls and stupid Ebay posts and DB regulations. This sounds like a lot more fun!

Nightmare,
Transferring the fuel from the lft tank to the right, may seem like a good idea until you really think about it. It's hard enough to get these boats to run the same at the start of the race and at the end of the race, due to the change in CG from front to back. Now you're talking about shifting it from center to way out to the right. The boat will start to pull to the right as the CG transfers, and this will continue to increase until you are out of fuel in the left tank. It's hard enough trying to stay off the bouy's with a boat that runs straight, let alone if it start to increasingly pull to the right. You have to maintain equal tank levels throughout the run.

The Barbie doll is a cute thought, though..........

Thanks. Brad.

Hi Brad Thanks for the advise.I'll run the boat the way it is from left to right and if it was to go to the right I'll put a T connecter at the pressure line and another one to get the two tanks in to one and then in to the curb.I just wish i get the engine some time soon so we can go and play :) Thanks again Nick

Hey Nick if this work's you'll have to pay Mathew to design your boats.

Who know's maybe one day we will all own a boat that mathew designed, keep up the good work Mathew.

P.S. Nick looks like you should leave the building to your son LOL LOL

Very cool Nick and Mathew.

If I can make one suggestion put the new motor aside and set up the boat

with an older motor if you can that way if something goes wrong and it always does with a new boat you are not hurting that new engine you are trying to break in.

Can't waite to see it on the water next year.

Bring it to the club meeting if you are going.

Hi Tim! I know what you mean about a new boat and a new engine, but I like to give this boat 100% chance and not having any doughts with anything,so I will put the new engine in it. I have a pipe that Mark from Props 4 u sold me that works well with a novarossi and I will go to town with it  I will come to the meeting and i'll bring the boat along. also i'm working on a 40 rigger same concept only the sponson will be much smaller and the tub will have a flat bottom and much longer then any rigger on the market!.If everything goes ok you will see the boats making some waves next spring. ;)

Nick

What ever you decide to do you are already ahead of the game, you are spending quality time with your son doing something you both enjoy and that is great.

My son loves helping me when I work on my boats but for now all he can do is smash things with a hammer and crayon all over them(only four) but that works for me.

Tim it all starts at a very young age.as long as your boy likes the hammer then he will be a hands-on type of a guy. just don't give him a (B F H ) then you will be in trouble

well today is the big day test time!!!!!!!!!!! :D I got the novarossi and hardware for the nightmare and i just hope it goes ok

Hi Nick and Mathew

I've been following this thread from the begining and would like to say that not only your idea will work but also will help to counter react to the engine's torque once you keep the right tank always with fuel.If you feed the motor with the right tank and this one feeded by the left one I see no problem to keep the boat predictable around the buoys. That's the way I used to do long time ago with a FSR mono that carried two big tanks.

One more thing I've just finished a new .21scratch rigger(see pic) and keeping the pipe on the right side of the tub it is easier to hold the boat for launching and this right weight helps to counteract the torque produced by high pitched props like the 1816 used for tests and we've saw no difference in performance using this set up but can say the boat is more stable in choppy conditions due to a better final balance..

Keep the great job and never be afraid to innovate.!

Life is too much short for inexpensive worries!

It's been raining since yesterday and we haven't been able to get out

there to try it. Hopefully, sometime soon! :(

Gill

That's what I had done with my aeromarine cat. I ran two tanks and the

left fed the right. I had no problems keeping the boat straight. Thank you

very much for the kind words and advice! I'll keep you posted on how it

all turns out. Matthew and Nick ;)

Hey Nik and Matt.

This stuff is all ''GREEK'' to me.

Nice to see people trying new things. Too many people work wuithin this motto ............. ''they say it couldn't be done - so, I didn't do it"

Have fun .................... Randy

if things were any worse, the pond would have been dry, when we go there! i left the carb. the way it came from the factory, the engine was screaming on the stand. so i started adjusting the mixture needle, trying to get this thing running. after a lot of fooling around with it, i got it to idle. this engine, it's so tight, that i broke two brand new belts and four used ones. at the meantime, i was running out of light. i had the engine idle, so i threw the boat in the water a couple of times when it went a couple hundred feet and stalled. i guess i better find out how to adjust this carb. before i get this engine blown up on the stand. oh, one more thing i forgot to say, the very first thing that happened to me was my starter wire got caught between my rear sponson and the prop, so i stuck my finger in there to get the wire out!!! you guessed it!!! i got my f*******in finger chopped up by the prop!!! i guess i have to put this in another topic with the heading " What's the most stupid thing you've ever done???" more testing on the weekend. i'll keep you guys posted.

thanks,

nick

Hey Nick,

That's the most stupid thing you've ever done????? Just sounds like a typical day at the pond for me!
