not its just a couple guys out to a pond,.. no race.. running for fun.. testing.. lake is way too small unless we move to the side.. but I can't get the FE guys to go over there.. it's just a place to go play a little bit

Very cool, only thing I have to add is that the 'D' word is frowned upon. I the quadcopter community prefers UAV or UAS to distinguish from military crafts. Got to careful what we say these days!

Just about every reality show on Discovery and A&E and so on are using a camera that can fly!!! Cool stuff, a company around me is using/testing one to deliver beer to ice shacks one the lake:)

Im sorry,. but I have to vent.. next thing we wont be able to say the word "gun" because of what someone may want to do with a "gun".. Is this the next level of political correctness? If this is a rule,.. then I will follow the rule. otherwise, Ill call it what I want..

Sorry if I offended anyone..

No offense taken, and I doubt you have offended anyone. I'm not a fan of the PC stuff, but I am on the lookout to protect our hobby.

Wish I had one of these camera ships to tape an 1/8 Scale race.

Its just being mindful of what’s going on out there, thats all. We HAVE to do all we can to protect our hobby.

If some mom gets wind that little Jill was filmed without her permission to post on a video some place.. (And it was a "Drone" that did the filming..Its going to get ugly). Its starting to be a bitch to control now. I dont want my hobby to contribute to it.

The idea that we can "really" make our lives better by not getting up to get that beer then having it delivered by a robot.. then WALLE here we come..

When Roman Pirozek was killed last summer by his Heli the powers that be became VERY interested in what we are doing with our (drones).. (they just dont understand)

I know Anthony you understand this. Nobody is offended..

Uh oh.... I just put the D word on the front page. But technically it is a drone as it was not piloted.

So, does this mean we should be advertising our events as "Drone Regattas" since the boats are remote controlled?

It is a drone if it is not piloted by a person but rather by a computer. If it is piloted by a human then it is simply remote controlled. That's my understanding.

Tom, if you look at the Predator drones used by the USAF, they are flown by pilots remotely from here in the states. I can't say how the other drones used by the military are controlled so you may be correct about being computer guided

the guy running this one told me that he would make a path and a home. The "thing" would then repeat the path based on GPS coordinates, while he drove the camera. He could see what the camera saw via a iphone on attached to his radio.. then he told it to come home,.. it flew over and landed on it's own.. (oh crap, can I say iphone?) (sorry, sarcasm,.. but I get it)

maybe im easily impressed, but I was impressed. I don't know that I could get into it.. have to be way into electronics I would bet,.. ill stick to driving and building the boats..
