Arrow goes toward the exhaust....at least on my engines it did when I had them apart.

Terry, i was at the pond when Mark was testing his JAE, and what Mark is saying is when the fuel level gets down to approx. 1/4 before empty thats when the motor is going lean. I was also the guy with the radar gun. :D When the boat is on the stand running, you can watch the fuel moving around a heck of alot. If you have room, i would install a two tank set up, or go to a metal tank. The advantage to a metal tank is sometimes they are baffeled or have another small tank in side to keep fuel around the pick up. Mikes post above tells how to hook up a two tank system. good luck, Richard

Thanks guys I do know how the hopper system works .i run one in my sport 40 ...12 oz main and 2oz hopper.I just wanted to see what guys were using in the way of 2-4oz...i will see what i can come up with for now.

The engine looks good as rod had suggested so now onto the next thing.

This is just a thought and its probably been mentioned. Is it possible that if you put say 1/4" material (a piece of wood) under the front edge of the tank it could work correctly? I have been looking at the plans for the jae boat and firefighter yet building another boat. Doing this ya notice the floor under the jae fuel tank is totally flat, I know my hawk and firefighter both have tanks that are built for a sloping floor in the tub..... so at any given time my back side of my tank is the lowest point. In the jae the lowest point is the whole bottom of the tank correct?

Im not saying this is the answer but it could be a very simple fix :)

Well the engine looked real good .The head clearance is .009 I figure i would check while i had it off.I went ahead and made a hopper tank using a sullivan slant 1 oz tank. figured i would try it .I had a new one here and it fit perfect between the tub sides and to the rear of the brass tubing housing the rear boom tubes.

It was tight for the lines to come out straight so I used my KS pipe bender to bend them at 90* so they are now sticking up in the air.

I went back to my sullivan slant 8 oz tank and put the dubro tank aside for a spare and took the pickup out from under the lip like i was told ;)

I also put my remote needle valve back in the water line at the rudder so i can cut the water down in cold days to bring the engine temp up to where it should be.

I did the same with the 12 nr and JAE...

I took advantage od the enging being out of the boat to clearance 4 spots on the engine mounting blocks where the motor bolts were hitting.

I used my drum sanding disc on my 90* dremel and then scuffed the area up with 80 grit sandpaper and applied some slow west to the area.

I have blow this boat off, hit pool noodle bouys and it is holding up real well.

Now i just need to get some full tanks through it with some consistent runs....

Anything else i can do for now...it is suppose to rain till wednesday...

gooey, no room to raise the tank ,I already had to heat it and work it and let it harden again so the cowl would fit.

I went out tonight and my 21 will now with the aid of a hopper tank suck the big one bone dry as well as the hopper.I will attach a pic of what i did and it looks tight from the angle but there is plenty of room and it fits really well.It solved my fuel draw issues completely.

I added remote needles to the fuel tubing comming off the rudder's water nipple to regulate water flow.I was over cooling last outing.I also could not get the enging to work well and it was two stroking and burbily sounding. It was going round and round but not fast no matter how much i leaned it out....

Zach had told me last night to try a hot plug from k&B so that is what i though i had on me but it ended up being the cold plug the 7300 not the 7311 like zach ahd suggested.

I had no 7311 on me sooooooo anyway. Both the 12 and the 21 worked better, ran hotter piped up better and even sounded better on the K&B 7300 .Now my problem is i have no more and they work so well i am timid to try the 7311 this close to a race and mess up my settings...

It is cool here 50-55* and wher i am going to race is 75 ish should i try and run the same 77300 plug or the 7311 which is hotter or should the mccoy 9 work min hotter climates.
