I run the muffled version on my SAW 40 rigger

With real good results :)

Exact same pipe...

Regards Aaron

The new A/A pipe is really good. You can be off on the needle and the engine will still perform. We run them at 9" and still pull a lot of rpm.

Exactly the responses I expected , there is a few good pipes on the market now.

lets take this one step further , what is your prop of choice with your favourite pipe ?

Ok guys lets talk about header pipes . Last sommer I finished a MODDED VAC 45 JAE with a stock 4" long header pipe uncut and a $ 25.00 cmb quite pipe from stu bar starying @ 10 1/2" I ran it all the way in to 8 3/4" and ran low 80s

while I have looking for a AB pipe . The combo worked well until I cut the header down to a 1 1/2'' and thats when I lost major power . I came back out to 9 1/4" and still nothing. I barrowed a AB 45 parobolic and still nothing .I ordered a new header pipe put it on powers back with both pipes. My understanding is you cut the header header down so the shock wave will work better with no restrictions .I am still looking for a nice Andy Brown pipe . thanks Charlie

My favorite 45 pipe that I ran on both my MAC45 SGX and my CMB45 Shooter was the CMDi parabolic 45 pipe. The OPS 67 pipe with stinger bushed down worked well as did the CMB copy of Andy's 45 nitro pipe (both with add on mufflers) but the parabolic was hands down the best. The black muffled 45 pipe was inconsistent when I tried it and slower than the 3 previous mentioned pipes.

Can anyone explain the principal of cutting down the header pipe . The drawinng shows more of what I am trying to explaine above.

Charles

So you are saying that you made more power with the header stuck up in the pipe?

You want the header to just barely go in the pipe. When it pushes in past the straight section of the pipe you change the characteristics of the pipe design. Its weird that you lost power when the header was shortened.

Ya man its the weardest thing my understanding is once you find the sweet spot cut it down to get a better shock wave to make bettet power or so I thought . You can see both headers in the pic. let me know what ya think Charles

Scraching my head as we speek.

Have to think on this one,

It is definitely telling a story just have to read it.

Andy is really good with pipe theory . Maybe he can chime in and give so insight.

Charlie,

Maybe some more detail on the MODS to your VAC would be helpful. One thing for sure your setup likes/needs the back pressure created by the stock length header.

I left my mine the stock length too and it works well with that pipe that nobody else likes.

I am also scratching my head but I'm gonna go with it.

Charlie,

Maybe the front cone of the pipe is too big with your timing changes?

Merry Christmas,

Mark

Charles, been there, done that, long header has more torque, your boat setup, prop combo must need the extra torque from the longer header, short header jumps to a larger angle in the pipe for less torque.
