Terry, you should pick up another sled this year. We are always in Portage. :D

No sled for me this year but i did think about it last year with all the snow we got....

GUys i was out again today after so much sucess last week but i ran into even more problems.I am currently running the valvola cause even after running my mac in my sport 20 2 weeks ago and working fine it won't work fine in my hawk rigger.

Anyway with the valvola 1L or mccoy 9 plugs 60% h4 prop with very little cup it took right off and worked fine for a bit and then it started to take plugs out , I mean pretty much the whole plug.I went rich and it was better but it would not come up on plane or pipe unless i went way lean on the 3rd channel and then it would come up and take off and i would try to go rich once it piped up and maybe it was too late and the plug would be gone.

I would always set the 3rd channel back to "0" and then i tried a little richer with the maine needle not the 3rd channel It seemed to get worse so i went leaner on the HSn and it would almost launche from there so i went more lean so it would take off but always with the same results blown plugs.

I basically chased the needle for hours and no improvement.I checked the feel of the pl by removing the plug and rotating the flywheel with my thumb and forefinger. It seemed like it had a hitch at tdc, not the usual stick where you can rock the flywheel back and forth a bit but it felt like something stuck.

When I returned home i could not find anything wrong and the bearings feel fine.

What else can i check .I hate to put this engine and boat away for a long wither without getting some of the bugs worked out atleast.

It was working so well a week ago and i made no changes .

I see from the airport weather t went to 15C (60F) there today, didn't you say it was near zero last time out?

Did you try to give Gary Prusse a call? he designed the hawk, he is in Illinois and him and his son run a rc boat shop. Just a thought

terry check that tank... i'm guessing that the brass inlet inside the tank has a crack, and hence an ultimately lean condition as the tank drains down.... they are always in a constant state of corrosion, with condensation etc, and with the flood, i had multiple tank failures driving me nuts because the lines corroded inside, just enough, to think, why that particular boat couldnt get a needle consistently, and or stop on the same lap testing each time.... try an alternate tank.... good luck.. mike
