The IMPBA Board has accepted the proposal for the District-13 Racers Group to hoist the 2024 IMPBA Gas Nationals. This will also be a celebration for the 75th Anniversary of the IMPBA!

Dates:
Open Water: June 18th & 19th
Race Days: June 20th, 21st & 22nd
Weather/Travel Day: June 23rd

Location:
3698 Naturally Fresh Blvd, Atlanta GA 30349

Race Format:
4 rounds of standard heat racing will be followed by a final 5th Championship Round. First round heats are set-up in alphabetical order of the entries within each class. Heats in subsequent rounds for each class are determined by accumulated points running highest to lowest. Choice of frequency will start from highest points on down if conflicts arise. If there is a tie within a large class when determining heat splits for a subsequent round, previous penalties may be considered. The racer with the cleanest previous heats will race with the higher points racers. Standard Heat Racing Point scoring will be applied. Only the top six in points will advance to the final 5th Championship Round. All points awarded during the event are carried to the final round. Total points accumulated for all rounds determines the “National Champion”. Any ties will be decided by run-off.

Class Schedule:
Thursday June 20th
Super Sport Mono
LSG27 Cat
LSG27 Rigger
LSG27 Sport Hydro
LSG Cracker Box (SS Engine)
LSG Superboat Offshore

Saturday June 22nd:

Sunday June 23rd:
Weather Make-Up Day.
For any classes that are not completed on the scheduled day of the event will be run on this day. If none need to be completed, this will be a travel day. It is advised that contestants be prepared to stay through Sunday to complete their heats in order to be considered for the National Championship.

Racers are allowed a maximum of (3) classes per day pending 250 boat limit. After the 250 boat limit is reached, any open spots can be filled and the (3) classes per day limit will be lifted

Entries will be taken on rcracingevents.com starting on January 27th, 2024 at 10am EST
Payment at time of entry will be required.

*****IMPORTANT UPDATE******

After meeting with the new owner of the property surrounding the AMB pond last night, it has been determined that we will need to change venues. This is due to construction activities that will be starting June 1 and they cannot guarantee undisturbed access to the facility during this phase of construction. We are not willing to invite all our friends down to race and not be able to guarantee that the construction will not negatively impact the race.

BUT WE HAVE A PLAN

The Gilley’s and the SOWEGA club are willing to let us use their beautiful facility!! So, the race will still go on but now at 1966 Robert Davis Road, Sycamore, GA 31790

For anyone that has not been to this race site, you’re in for a treat and a good time!

SOWEGA is a short course and runs 8-laps.

LSG Superboat Offshore will run a designated course and 6-laps.

There are a limited number of RV hook ups but plenty of room for self-contained camping.

Entries still open on 01/27 at rcracingevents.com

Registration Fee is $40 and $20 for each boat. Registration fee includes event T-Shirt, Patch, and Banquet Ticket.

Entries MUST be paid via PayPal at the time of entry.

Additional banquet tickets are available for $20.

The banquet will be held on site Friday June 21st on site.

IMPBA memberships and Single event forms must be paid through the IMPBA website PRIOR to arrival at the race site. None will be accepted at the site.

Event CD’s: Buck Shackelford/Gabe Clegg/Norman Morton/Nick Hartdegen

GONE FISHING!!
GAS National Racers

Due to a Deep Sea Fishing Date.....the site will be closed until June 17th. You may enter anytime after 12 on Monday.

Hey Gang,

We are less than 2 weeks away from the start of the 2024 IMPBA Gas Nats!

If you are not going to make the event or need to drop a class for any reason please let me know ASAP.

You may enter the site any time after 12 noon on Monday the 17th (and not before then). Open Water will be available on Tuesday the 18th and Wednesday the 19th.

We look forward to seeing all of you very soon!

Thanks,
Lamar Huff
DXIII Racers Group

Hey Gang,

A couple of things:

1. For your convenience we will have a food vendor on-site during the event:

• Wednesday they will arrive mid-morning and stay until Wednesday night. Hamburgers, hotdogs, and club sandwiches will be available.
• Thursday they will arrive mid-morning (menu TBD) and they will have spaghetti plates available Thursday night.
• Friday they will arrive midmorning (menu TBD) and leave before the banquet.
• Saturday they will arrive mid-morning (menu TBD) and will play Saturday afternoon by ear.

2. In LSG Superboat Offshore any IMPBA-legal LSG Engine is allowed which means you can run side-by-side or inline engines. The maximum displacement for each cylinder must not exceed 32cc for each cylinder with a combined total of 64cc.

We look forward to seeing all of you very soon!

Thanks,
Lamar Huff

Hey Gang,

We are just a few days away from open water for the 2024 IMPBA Gas Nats! Just a few reminders as you make your final preparation to head out for SOWEGA:

1) If you are not going to make the event or need to drop a class for any reason, please let me know ASAP. I’ll be generating the first-round heats this weekend. We would like to avoid having to shuffle things around in the first round due to no-shows.

2) The site is not available until noon on Monday the 17th. Please do not arrive before this date and time.

3) When you arrive, please see a "Race Coordinator" before parking. We have a fantastic turnout and will need to control the process to make sure everyone has a pit space. Doug Smock will be on-site to help you. You will need to drop your trailers and move your vehicles as we will need to stack the tents 2 deep in some places.

4) Many of you know Kem and Julie farm, and the pond sits in the middle of 200 acres. There are peanuts in the field beside the pond this year. Please stay out of the field. If you have any questions, they can be reached at 229-392-4936.

5) There will be a food vendor on site Wednesday lunchtime through Saturday at lunchtime. They will not be serving dinner on Friday since we will all be fed at the banquet.

6) SOWEGA has a very nice PA system, but we will also be broadcasting the calls from the tower on FM radio. If you have a boom box or portable FM radio, I suggest bringing it. Depending on where you end up pitting it could come in very handy.

7) Campsites are located to the left as you enter the pond and all of them are spoken for (see list below). # 10 is closest to the house. #1 is closest to the tower. Make sure you are in the correct spot. If you are not sure, please ask someone. Camping is $30.00 a night and PayPal payment is preferred to [email protected].

Campsites:

1. Steve Amerson
2. Gene Duncan
3. Dave Cribben
4. Chris Wittrig
5. Gabe Clegg
6. Jan Voellinger
7. Bill Morrison
8. Jeni Johnson
9. Blaise Recca
10. Ray Hotchkin

See you all at the pond very soon!

Thanks,
Lamar Huff

Racers,
We will be moving at a very rapid pace. We were able to accommodate 99% of everyone that wanted to participate, now you need to be ready to race! We will not have time to wait between heats. We have over 90 heats on Thursday and Friday.
As soon as the retrieval boat is empty the next heat will be on the clock. We will have full time pit boss but he/she will not be running around the pits looking for you.
  • Drivers meeting will be at 6:30am with racing to start immediately afterwards.
  • All spec. engine classes will need to be tagged prior to the first heat (SS Mono, LSG Crackerbox & Thunderboat). We would like to get as many checked as possible on Tuesday & Wednesday during open water.
  • All LSG Superboats will need to be weighed prior to the first heat.

We are looking forward see all our old friends and meeting some new ones!

***********ATTENTION RACERS************
When you arrive to the site DO NOT park or unhook from your trailer until someone from the District-13 Racers Group either approves your location or shows you what is available and what is not. THIS IS MANDITORY, NOT AN OPTION. If you chose to forgo this request you will find out how easily a farming tractor can relocate your trailer, and we don't care what's inside.
STAY OUT OF THE FIELD with any vehicle, this is the Gilley's livelihood and will be one of the fastest ways to be kicked off and banned from the property.

Stay on the path leading into the property. DO NOT drive through the Gilley's front or back yard!!!

We want everyone to enjoy themselves, all we asks is that you respect the property and to use a little common sense.

Buck Shackelford
District-13 Racers Group
