If it's open for discussion about changing dates, what about March for the WTC because if 2012's race schedule is the same as 2011's, there's a hole for a race to fill that month. That at least gives you a couple months to regroup for the Internats for both the CMB Club and the racers.

Mitch,

If you recall the reason we moved the WTC from March to April was that our northern neighbors were having trouble getting to and from the race. Several times they braved ice and snow storms going back to Wisc, Mich, Ohio, Iowa, Ill, etc. So to allow them to be safe coming in and going home, we moved it back 4-5 weeks and it made it much better for them. In addition, their water is hard until early to mid April and they have no time to test.

I know the year will be packed for us and the races and the club is fine with it. Just want to maximize the attendance the best we can. There are some that will come to the WTC and some that will come to the internats. Some (fewer I believe) will come to both. We cannot do anything about the length of the internats as it is basically set by the rulebook, but the WTC we can control it for the best interest of the race. What we have been thinking about is to return to the format we used from 2005 until 2009 when we went to a 3 day race. If you recall we did an offshore class too.

I'm n for any format. This year I plan to race the WTC instead of broadcasting, sorry, but I gotta play. We will be broadcasting the Internats so this is the real reason for not broadcasting. So bring your boats and race whatever days we can. One more thing, I'M IN FOR OFFSHORE WITH THE BIG WHITE BOAT :p always wanted too at the Carolina Showdonw but Mudbug wouldn't let me :(

I would agree with Robin on this one, plan a 2 day event, if entries warrant another 1/2 day then add to the schedule. Don't matter to me, My son and I will be there to do some racing no matter how many days it ends up being, woohoooooo, let's get it on.

Leave the dates alone, earlier in the year always results in bad weather. 2 or 3 or 4 days all work for me, 3 days makes it something special in my mind, otherwise it is just another 2 day race(really 1 & 1/2 days because lots of people need/want to leave mid-day Sunday). I like starting at noon on Friday and finishing at noon on Sunday. Ref FE classes, unless there are unseen hoards of FE boats down South that I am not aware of, there are not sufficient numbers for 3 classes of FE. P Spec and Open FE barely make every WTC and now that the economy is further down the tubes you will do good to make these 2 classes. Last couple of years P Spec boats had to run in Open FE just to make the class. If you have classes (P Lmtd and Q) that require people to buy new motors and batteries and speed controls participation will drop. They will be 3 boat classes.

Yeah I remember that now. Well just throwing out ideas. Either way, I'll be at both. Time to start tuning now.

Looking over the results from the 2010 & 2011 WTC I don't see a lot of guys who run anything other than tunnels. Yes the chance for a US-1 will lure some to the internats and those within a 4 hour drive could show up on the day tunnels are run and go home and come back for time trials where most have to stay the whole week. Too bad you can't set up timming equipment early and get the tunnel US-1 classes finished at the WTC. Sunday afternoon time trials would be worth staying for is you qualified in the few US-1 classes.Shane would be very happy. Would make room for a shorter Internats later. Sport B could be run at both and still have a world and national champion.

As for 2-3 days I would like to see heats start Friday. Lets someome take one day off and travel with a little time to setup. We go two days ahead every year and you can barely find a good spot for your trailer. Lets not let the "Worlds" be diminished to accomodate the Internats. In tunnels the competions is stacked at Charleston. If I have to choose it will be the WTC.

I 2nd that , for me the world's is more important than the internats, more tunnels more compition ,

Don' t let the world's become just another race ,from the first time a came to the race it 's been what I look forward to

Every year, I stop going to atl to go where the tunnels are and I've been every year, this year have some new people

Coming to race hope it will be as fun as it always is. That just my 2cents

Believe me I understand about the importance and prestige of the WTC race to the tunnel racers and I am not going to let it fall by the wayside. I am trying to keep it viable for all interested in it. It will not be a sacrificial lamb for the internats either. At best it may be starting on Friday at noon and at worst starting on Saturday morning. Time will tell. Just looking for options and possibilities to retain and regain interest. Only the racers can do that however.

will there be a kneeler class this year? ? ?

There needs to be sufficient numbers to hold the class and that is usually 5. There has never been enough in the past to run the class. Just how many are there out there and will they commit to attend the race? That is the $64K question.

Kneelers are building numbers NW with Dunny and the WA . gang, but it has been not so much that I have seen. ModVp and the introduction of multiple FE class seems to be gaining traction. Start making all these classes, and were spreading the class sizes down, adding classes.......whats next. O/B hydro has struggled to maintain, and its still a short number (less than 5) for WTC.

Walterboro was the REALLY fun ones, fast lap, offshore, smack talk shootout. 05,06,and 07 on the other side.

ESPECIALLY 07, Kris and his wife, Dunny and Zabo, Van Houten, Talley, Rushing, and Herbie, whom we miss dearly.
