Ten Years Earlier
July 2-6, 2000
Twenty aspiring Gas Boaters descended on the town of Huntsville, AL to set the future of gas powered model Boat racing forever. This was the First ever Gas International Regatta. The following list, were the first “Dominators” of Gas Model Boat Racing. Some are still around and are very active in the racing others have moved onto other activities.
Sal Miralles, Miami Florida, Henry Pyrciak, Grand Island, New York
Russell Jagow, Lockport, New York, Richard Jurkowski, Buffalo, New York
Bill Zuber, Huntsville, Alabama, Mike Hoffmeister, Cincinnati, Ohio
Rick English, Plains Georgia, Norman Morton, College Park, Georgia
Ken Carpenter, Miami, Florida, Jim Nissen, Austin, Texas
Teddy Dauphinee, Middleport, New York, Johnny Berr, New Iberia, Louisiana
Karen Kensill, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Bob Kensill, Fort Wayne, Indiana
Frank Kraemer, Kenner, Louisiana, Don Betz, Cincinnati, Ohio
Matthew Waldron, Cincinnati, Ohio, Andy Millet, Denham Springs, Louisiana
Chris Herzog, Kenner, Louisiana, John Mantesta, Tarmarac, Florida
Now we have to ask who is going to follow in their footsteps this year at the 10th Annual Gas National Regatta? Will you be the racer to win this year at the race, which changed the face of Gas Model Boating?
Ten years ago IMPBA had 8 engine classes plus the Homelite engine class Ten years later IMPBA has 8 engine classes plus the Super Sport class. We will see who comes out on top October 20 -24th . See you very soon !
PS the deadline for race entries and sponsorships is September 20th, 2010. See applications or contact, Bill Zuber at [email protected] or give me a call at 256-361-3325 and I can provide you with the information you need.
