You called the guy a Idiot??

if he sells it, there is a bigger Idiot out there.

If a boat COULD go 200, Im SURE it would have BROWN behind it, and at the controls.

hell I cant get past 60 here, Maybe i should bid on it.

that way I WILL have a 200 MPH Boat.

RON You need to be at the pond, your in charge of the recovery boat.

MIS and a Classic car show? Is the pond going to be open then?

I hope the person that does buy the "200 MPH" boat knows better. :) I checked one of the bidders feedback.. Looks like they buy a lot of R/C boat products.. Yea, I learned on the Bay, buyer beware... Seller sent me a motor with a different carb than what was pictured. They corrected it, but gave me a so-so feedback.. :p This even after paying for it within 2 mins of bid closure... Second notice to him that I would report him to Ebay for fraud did he respond. He sent me the carb that was pictured..

Mark....

It's pretty easy for these boats to obtain 200mph or even higher when you box them up and send them via Airmail......... ;D

I’m thinking many of the hulls in Australia have seen speeds in excess of 500mph

On the other hand.......I really need to get some of those "micro-bubbles" to put on my cowls.

I may have lost my last cowling; D

I think they may even form a protective barrier from prop-tracks when getting run over by another boat…the possibilities are endless.

Ok...I crunched the numbers and here's how it stands.

I estimated with a slip of 10% (modest, to say the least!) the K&B 3.5 swinging an Octura 1742 would have to spin up to 90,200 RPM to reach 200 MPH.

If you could get it to swing a 2142 ( : :) ) you would only have to get in the neighborhood of 73,600 RPM.

I know the secret to the speed he must have go fast stickers a good set of stickers is good for atleast 150 mph ;D maybe he ran it with a good tail wind with 200 mph gusts ??? . :p

Maybe you should rephrase that to many of the IMPORTED boats in Australia!!!!!

There's some pretty good boat builders down here too 8)

[glow=red,2,300] None of them would claim 200mph tho ;) [/glow]

I see that PJ is a math wiz.

Damn I wonder how a motor holds tougher running 30,000 rpm.

Cant imagine the sound comming from a engine going 90,000 rpms.

Now that would be a screamer.

Wonder what % nitro he runs to get that rpms.

PJ,

Have a look at a thread titled 'Prop Education' on rcboat.com for an explanation on pitch etc. Andy brown and Marty Davis have had some interesting things to say about pitch and its distribution and effects. If you understand what is meant, the concept of average pitch become pretty meaningless and 'prop slip' is not at all what we may have thought it was!

It does mean you cant do your little speed calc without measuring the prop first.... ;D

Ian.

No problemo Dudes, Just add one GE J-79 turbo jet,

a little JP-4, spinher up and hit the ignitors!!!!! ;D

Although 200 might be a little conservative ;)

Gene,

I am not sure about the little Prather hull still being able to float with that on the back! Would need a good rudder servo! And a larger fuel tank...

Nitrocrazed racing: Ever seen the Bluebird footage....

Don't worry about it sinking with that monster turbo jet engine, I heard that Microbubble is unsinkable, undestructable even if you boat gets hit, smashed or crashed and was actually supposed to go inside the "Titanic" but was pulled by some Genius!

Ron,

That guy is an idiot for saying what he did to you. The fact that he stands by that statment takes some balls and you guys are right some dumb kid is gonna buy it and cry when it tops out at 45mph.

Will NAMBA even insure such a fast boat?? LOL!!!!

Ahh shes just a baby, 17 feet long, 3600 lbs and 3 feet around, full military AB thrust 15,000 lbs. She'll go idle to full AB with no compressor stall. Engine first flew in a F-104 Starfighter, the one ya rotate stand it on its tail and climb till ya run outta air

SMOKIN!!!!!

Gene 8)

Lookin fer a pic, hang on........

Tim,

Naw yer right, not on Ebay, There was a guy that bought surplus parts, airframe and engine, got it certified, civilain owned F-104, They made him take the afterburner off :-

Bummer!!!!

Gene ;D

Ian,

I have heard some about the Bluebird, Ill check out the vid ;)

Actually his response was rather kind compared to the letter that I wrote him. Let's just say that I wasn't too shy about what I said!

Latest update. He has put an addenum in there after getting some flak from other boaters and it's still a laugh! He claims that Prather has it written on the box that it is a record-setting boat at 200 MPH! This guy is so full of it!
