After readin some reviews, i'am sold on it, guess i can save money on a compressor!!!!!

Is this how Mr. Truex gets his mind on/off quailing(can't spell). Go put it up front Thursday. I'm a fan and ya got a bunch more in our group. Lynn

I've had excellent results shooting down my wood hulls with krylon or Dupi-color paint and using auto clear over it, this stuff looks good and its affordable too.

Here's BASF version of the same stuff.

Nice find Piston! It's a bit pricey though... almost twice the price of spraymax.

I was considering doing it in my heated basement, but they are EXTREMELY toxic compared to other aerosol paints I've used. I wonder if my charcoal paint respirator is up to the task?? I should probably wait until the outside temp hits 70, and do it outdoors.

They have isocynates in them... Sounds like some pretty nasty stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isocyanate

that charcoal respirator will work just fine.. thats what I use..

so, how did this ever turn out??? This is a much cheaper way to paint a single boat IMHO, for someone who doesnt have a compressor or gun.

I used the SprayMax 2K clear on the last cat i painted...and have mixed feelings about it.

First...do not expect to get more then 1 or 2 coats, unless you are painting a pretty small boat. There is not a whole lot in the can. On a 42" boat, i was only able to get down 1 tack coat, and 1 heavy coat. When i went to do 2nd coat, it started running out and blotched pretty bad leaving alot of wet sanding and buffing to fix it.

Now im no pro painter, and most definetely dont claim to be... but i use the 3M tape we use for radio box tape to hold down the front of my cowl (only temp) and it has started peeling the clear off where the tape was put onto it. I did pleanty of prep before clearing, and made sure everything was as clean as could be. Only thing i can think is it really didnt like being sprayed over Acrylic Lacquer, but they claim it can be sprayed over any basecoat.

I for one, dont believe i will use it again. There is another company selling 2K Urethane clear in a can called "Killer Cans" that i may try.. but at $40 a can + shipping, will probably end up just buying the real stuff and shooting it through my HVLP guns ive yet to use

I used it on my new 20 rigger and love it.

I have spilled 60% on it and nothing happens,

the clear hasn't lifted at all.

To me, It is going to be used on future boats.

Great stuff.

awesome. can it be sprayed over any base coat? like acrylic enamel for example? or perhaps krylon or rustoleum?

They claim it can be painted over ANY base coat.

Both of these boats i painted with Acrylic Lacquer (Duplicolor spraycan), and cleared with the SprayMax 2K.

I have used it on two boats now. And it's true there isn't very much in there. One tack coat and one heavy is about all you get per can. I think it works GREAT,.. I have heard it doesn't do as well over lacquer though..

YES! But not rustoluem because its a oil base paint.it will lift it. Krylons and pastic coat and dupi-colors are save to use that clear over them. I've used automotive urethane clears on them with no proublems.

I've used it on a couple boats and it worked great , holds up to 65% nitro being spilled on it.
