Andy
I sent pics of A early 20 eagle , to your email, Not sure how to post them,
Thanks Ty
Thanks Ty! That is a 1993/94 version.I ran one at the 1994 IMPBA Internats at Ft. Worth,Tx. Picco EXR powered. Won SAW with a 75 mph avg. which was right on the record at that time. The passes were run in heat race trim. I think I also won 1/3 mile oval.
The best one way pass was 77+ mph and it was near 100 degrees in Ft.Worth that week.
I had my thermometer with me at that race, remember 2days reached 101, one day 103, and Stu Barr had trouble with Simone says at the Catlemans steak house, Rod Stewart LAL showed up at the resturant in a lemo, John and Andy,s friend, can,t remember his name, he built swimming pools and liked to nuke burritos in the micro wave still wrapped in the aluminum foil, (what a show that was), any how he spent the rest of the evening with the Stewart (LAL), getting free drinks.Lots of fun memories at the race in Fort. Worth, Andy hit a piece of wood with his 20 boat during time trials, I remember a guy from Germany with a 21 rigger, I counted 21 test runs in open water, can't remember how he did, lots of fun.

You have a pretty good memory Dick!
Yes, it was so hot and dry that we were torching the guts out of the plugs in our Picco 67's. I don't mean just blowing out the seal, but blowing a hole through the body that looked like it was made with a torch.
I did not hit anything with my 21 hydro. I did run out of fuel, because I had to make so many passes in SAW. The guy on the clocks kept saying the clock malfunctioned after I made a pass. Well it turns out that it did not malfunction. The number he was seeing was in the 2'S and being an old time ( late 70's) SAW guy, he could not believe a 21 rigger was running in the 2's.
I ran out a full tank of fuel and was awarded no time, even though I called for a bunch of passes.
After a long discussion, the officials finally agreed to give me two passes the next morning. Since I only had one shot, I went out conservative and still ran in the 2's. Around 2.97 which is over 75 mph.
Marty hit the bank with his 21 rigger. He took his fin off looking for more speed, but did not have enough turn around on the left end.
That was Marty's second Internats after taking a long break since the early 80's. He was on a re-learning curve.
"NUCLEAR SAM" Augsberger! He was the man!
It was a couple of guys from Norway that came over. Their boats were really slow when we went out to practice with them the week before. One had a fiberglass Pinckert Daytona running about 55 mph. I built him a new 21 EXR and a prop. He wound up getting 2nd place in SAW with a 72 mph average. Most guys were running in the low 60's. The only Norwegian had a 45 Daytona, also fiberglass, With some engine mods to his Picco 45 and a new prop we got it to run 80 mph at Ft Worth. He burned a bunch of fuel testing that 45 boat. The only other 45 rigger running 80 mph in those days was mine. Most others ran around 70.
John Brown won US-1 with the original Jaguar 67.
Bobby Caudell, Ralph and the Roadrunner team loaded a Hertz truck with boats and drove it to Texas. Ralph had a 21 boat with a "$100 billet pipe". Something that was rare in those days.
Now that I think about it, it was my 45 boat that hit a piece of wood. That was in practice. Broke the tub, but thanks to John it was ready to run the next day.
That was a great IMPBA Internats. A good showing of boats from everywhere.
