Andy, the sponsons not on the boat have curved front surfaces. They have a break/step like a jae, but only the rear surface after the break is flat. The sponsons on the boat are smooth fr. to rear, no break. One continuous surface, curved at the front.
Robin,

I have a set here like the ones you have ( curved front surface). I'm thinking we never built the 45 boat with two flat planes. I think the 67 and 90 boats were the only ones built with two flat planes. Danny's boat (in photo) is a 67 boat. It has the two flat planes. Just not very visible in his photo.

One day I'll take some time to look through our HUGH box of templates.

Pretty neat stuff here on Eagle outrigger variations. Did'nt realize there was such an array of development (change) details over the years. That pink & white ("Circus Circus") hull is very Coyote-ish in style, at quick glance.

Does the "over-hang" rear sponson type configuration aid in turning?

I believe so David, but some boats without over hang turn pretty good too.

The Jaguar was the first boat I designed with sponson over-hang and it did turn better than the original Eagles. The Eagle SG with overhang turns better than my original Jaguar design.

Just a FYI Andy my eagle is a .21

HA! I'm seeing one size too big LOL. I guess we did build the 45 with the two flat planes.

Robin, I recognize your 21 boat now. A guy in South Fla., Nole Sang ( Danny knew him) was doing sponson mods like the fronts that are on your boat. He probably built the boat originally and built the rear sponsons too. That is not his paint work though, so the boat must have gone to someone after he built it.

This is a Noel Sang paint job. All airbrushed.

Yes, Noel built the " banchee" a eagle tub copy with differAnt front and rear sponsons.

Noel did beautiful work.
Ahh yes, the Banshee! I had forgotten. I was thinking the tub did not look just right. After closer inspection and Danny's reminder, no, Robin's boat is not an Eagle that was built by CMD.

i know these r the newer ones. they have some of the “2nd generation curves” but jus for reference.

the are the extra set from a twin .90 u built for a while back. the boat is here ,i believe, still in tact .i last saw it had repair to the tub nose. WAS still all yellow. if necessary i could find the dude that last had n and inquire.

dimensions— measured from running surface - 17” x 3” . the top 3 5/8” .(widest points)

Thanks for the pics Shawn! Those are a rare set. Those were the very first production Eagle sponsons. Early 1990. Produced no more than six months. We were still producing the Mongoose and had just started with the Eagle at that time. The white twin 90 that I posted in this thread had those same sponsons originally. We updated them later. That is why the natural wood sponsons on the twin 90 Eagle in the photo.

Andy

Thanks Ty! That is a 1993/94 version.

I ran one at the 1994 IMPBA Internats at Ft. Worth,Tx. Picco EXR powered. Won SAW with a 75 mph avg. which was right on the record at that time. The passes were run in heat race trim. I think I also won 1/3 mile oval.

The best one way pass was 77+ mph and it was near 100 degrees in Ft.Worth that week.

The current Jag 21 cowl is basically the same, but will probably require a wider base.
