Hello Neal,
I set the boat on a flat board and set the front of the strut level on the board. The boat runs pretty flat with the cg at 29 percent. I may put a little positive angle in it to get the nose up a little.
Hi Lohring,
The pipe is actually steel that I bought along with the leg from...
I've been using Promodeler standard size servos in all my gas boats for years now with no problems at all and I really like them. However, if you go to a sub micro, I would advise to stay away from the DS75. I had 3 of them in a row fail just setting the EPA on a standard Walbro 257 carb. 1...
Looks like you guy's got them boats running really well! Where in the world did you ever get the idea to put a 2719 prop on those? Great to hear you are having fun!
The boat is an original ML Boatworks gs480. The kit is now sold by PTI Racing as the gx480. Wendell Barrow lower unit, SS Racing Engines 30.5 Zenoah. Servo City Stingray 5 gearbox for steering.
Just starting to get this boat sorted out and learning how to drive this beast. It's been 20+ years since my old nitro outboard days. It's so much different to drive with the thrust driven steering compared to my hydro's and mono's. I am having a blast! I'll post more video when I get her, and...
Even if they're labeled "waterproof", no matter the brand, I always take them apart and put a little silicone around the rubber grommet where the wires come in and around the top cover base gasket. Running a $15 Injora 7kg sub micro servo mounted directly to a gas outboard engine for throttle...
Ouch is an understatement! Never seen a gas strut bent like that. Surprised it didn't tear off the transom! She hit hard! Sorry to see this happened to you. However, looking at the overall damage, it can be fixed!
I met Andrew and his Dad several years back at the Detroit Hydro Fest. Andrew took the championship that year. Super nice people from my home town. Walked up and gave us free pit passes!
Quickdraw hot pipe is hard to beat. M&D pipe is also excellent. I like the Zipp pipe too but it's very sensitive to changes in length. You only need to move it 1/8" either way to make a noticeable change in tune. Find the sweet spot and they work very good on stock and full mod engines.
Yes sir! The boat has way more than enough speed for what I'm doing with it. Now I need to just get myself and/or the boat dialed in for crisp cornering.
I have it set up for lap duty. To be honest, I turn better lap times with the boat running around 78 - 80 mph. Hard to hang the corners at that speed with my set up. Might try a different turn fin..
