Position of prop blast water pick up relative to prop

I have actually found that it will pick up enough water from the prop blast/rooster tail. I place the pickup tube at about 2 o'clock position as the previous posts stated but above the arc of the prop. In fact, I filed the K&B outboard pickup tube so that it is just above the tip of the blade.

    3M knife-less tape

Is the white trim the knife-less tape? It looks great. Crisp edges. Did your friend apply the letterings using the knife-less technique as well? Like weeding out the white to expose the red letters?

    3M knife-less tape

Came across this one. Has anyone tried this? If it works like what the video showed, it will save me a lot of time applying trim colors. I just need to spray the base color and then apply the trim and decal then clear over the whole thing.

    Any plumbers on this forum?

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions. This is a great forum. Lot's of knowledge on just about everything. Since the 1/2" copper pipe was sweated, I am not sure how I can clean up the solder so that the compression ferrule can fit. I bought a 3/8 cap and managed to stop the shutoff...

Simple Green Degreaser for part cleaning

I have a feeling that galvanic etching may be playing a role here. If you put the entire engine in an electrolytic solution, the aluminum parts will get corroded before steel. I would disassemble the engine first and put the parts in the bath instead of immersing the entire engine k

    Any plumbers on this forum?

Don, It is not leaking from the stem. So the packing seal is fine. It is not shutting water off. So the tank keeps getting filled. I want to replace the tank to toilet spud gasket but I now need to repair the valve first. Do you know the construction of these valves? Is there a rubber...

    Any plumbers on this forum?

Thanks Ray and Steve for your replies. The problem I have is that the valve is sweat to a 1/2" copper pipe. The valve telescopes over a 1/2 " pipe. I cannot use a compression fitting. And because there is only about 3" of 1/2" pipe that sticks out from the wall, I will need professional help...

    Any plumbers on this forum?

Hi Steve, The pipe and the valve is one piece and the pipe telescopes over a 1/2" pipe. So it is not easy to replace it. I would like to know if this valve has a washer that I can replace. But I need to be sure before I open it up or I will need to shut off the water main. Thanks, k

Simple Green Degreaser for part cleaning

All, I have finally bought this Aluminweld rods and am ready to practice on a few soda cans before working on the actual parts I want to repair. I have an old Enya muffler with the screw hole broken off. I will try to fill the hole and build up enough material to retap the thread. I will...

    Propeller selection

For the 3.5 inboard and outboard, I would start with an X440. If by subsurface drive you mean the prop is completely below the water when the boat is up on plane, I would go smaller, like X438

    Prather prop alloy

Mark, I have always used only hand tools such as files to work my props. It would be easier if I used a Dremel with a sanding disk. But I do not have the proper set up. While I enjoy making my own parts, I have come to the conclusion that I will enjoy running my boats more if I enlist help...

Boats For Sale Sport 40-1 with OS Engine

Nice boat. I think it is an Aeromarine hull. If I remember correctly, only front intake, side exhaust and loop scavenged .40 engines are allowed in Sport 40-I. The K&B sportsman .40 was the engine of choice back then.

    Prather prop alloy

Prather offered their props in at least three different metals. I have a Prather 235 in stainless. I also have a few other sizes in what appeared to be copper beryllium and bronze. If the bronze prop has beryllium in it, I will use special precaution when I work it Thanks, k

    Aluminum weld

Thank you all for your replies. Do you think I can build up material with the aluminum brazing rod so that I can machine and shape it? Tim, thanks for the information. The self fluxing rods look to be similar. The only difference is, and according to the Harbor Freight data sheet, the...

    Aluminum weld

Has anyone tried using the low temperature aluminum welding rod such as this for repair? https://www.harborfreight.com/8-piece-low-temperature-aluminum-welding-rods-44810.html I have a 7.5 lower unit that broke where the hinge pin is held. If this stuff is as strong as they claimed, I am...
