Like Chris said pics & specs needed.

Thanks
The bore size is relative to the type of carb design.

The ZOOM carb design doesn't require a small venturi to be efficient.

The bore size for the 21 carb has been optimized at .348.

Pictures are coming soon.

Hello all

Early this spring I was contacted by Charles Perdue.

He asked if I was interested to take part in testing his newly developed carburator called ZOOM.

This sounded very interesting so I said yes and after a few days the carb turned up with a few barrels with different bores.

I started the testing and here is my test report that I did send to Charles:

April 2008:

What can I say – Charles, your carb is really working great!!!! I did not know what to expect, but I see improvements in all areas.

I needed to richen the needle a little bit compared to the other carb.

When you start the engine, it runs better and smoother and you do not need to rev as hard to keep it going, pick up is better.

At Launch it is very strong and pulls better/quicker up to speed.

When you adjust the needle you have a greater area where the engine “works”, when you go to lean it is not so abrupt and you can easily richen the needle and still keep running. Plugs were less affected when mixture was correct.

Better low speed characteristics and pick up after slowing down for dead boat, early to the start or similar.

I gained approx 2mph at top speed, maybe due to larger bore – Zoom .348 and my other carb .307.

First I tested with my carb, then yours, back to mine again and finally the Zoom again, so I feel that this Back to Back test is pretty foolproof.

I did test with several props, but real full speed/race was with a H7 at full diameter and 3.75 cup. The speed with this prop is really good, about 70mph, but still very drivable and good pick up even if you lift off after hard racing. Pipe length is “long”, like 7.85” 202mm. I like to get the drivability.

I am really happy with the results and I am sure that your carbs will be interesting for many racers to use in the future.

I would like to help you with testing and development in the future, if you are interested.

All the best

Jorgen

Chris,

That is one that Dave Roach made for me a few years ago.

The Zoom 21 carb is quite unique in design, and it doesn't look

anything like that design. They should be ready in a few weeks

as soon as the rest of the legal work gets finished. How are your

drawings coming with your project?

Thanks,

Mark Sholund
