I ended up drilling a hole tru the tub for Stu’s needle but appreciate the responses now I know where to get the smaller needle vavles

Appears to be a barrel valve arrangement, from what's visible.

Yes, its a barrel valve. There is a slot in the barrel that aligns with the fitting in the side. rotating the barrel opens or closes the slot.
