Thank you.

Don, thank you for sending this eBAy link to me on the MX-11. OBVIOUSLY you know why I am looking for one of these. As soon as I get one, I will also need to buy one of your remote mixture control bases and an OS in-flight needle (if you think that's the right mixture control unit to get...I need your feedback on that). Anyway, thanks again. I will be in touch.

You're right, but there's still 5 days left in that auction. The listing is kind of weird and scary to me as the seller really isn't referencing anything about the tx at all in the item description. They're just showing a picture of the tx and nothing else. I have sent a couple of questions and have not gotten any reply as of yet. That always bothers me!

Maybe you can answer a question for me........The only reason I am looking for a M11 is because I want to gain a true proportional 3rd channel capability. I want that so I can move to a 3rd channel fuel mixture control set-up in a couple of my boats.

I now have a MX-3S and I have a lot invested in Airtronics rx's and crystals, and I don't want to have to can all of those. I have a lot of Airtronics 92836 rx's and a couple of Airtronics synthesized rx's. Obviously with the M11, I can use all of that stuff, and I do gain a true proportional 3rd channel.

Is there any other radio that you are aware of that will allow me to use these Airtronics rx's and give me the proportional 3rd channel capability? If so please do let me know.

Thanks.........

You can also look for a Airtronics M8. Same fuctions of the M11 just has only 10 model memory. I use this radio for all my boats with no problems and it also has the third proportional channel. It will save you some $$$$$

I have a couple M8's also.... no problems yet. I do like the 3PJs/3PK futaba 3rd channel control better though.

Not quite true. While the M8 is a great radio the 3rd channel does not store with the model memory like the M11 and the M8 does not allow you to move the functions around to different trims knobs and switches like the M11.

Eric is right, and that really sucks on the M8.

Im glad they changed it on the M11

All true, but the guy is just looking for a radio that can use all his receivers and has a proportional third channel. So for that purpose, the M8 is an excellent radio. Also the M11 is at least $100 more than the M8... Hey it was just a sugestion, take it for what is worth.....

Lorenzo....

A hydro National Champion! :p with an Airtronics M8

Lorenzo, I won several with the Stick version of the M8 called the SUper Exzes, I know it's a great radio. I just think that if you run more than one boat or plan to... it is well worth the money to go M11 it's a good investment that will last for years and has many more features for guys that run more than one boat. Either way you are correct they are both nice radios. BY the way Congratulations Champ

I have a used M11 that you can havve for $125.00, but the only problem is it needs to be sent to airtronics to be fixed. I have already talked to them, and they told me it would cost no more than 50.00 to fix and it could be back to me in under two weeks. So there you go if you want to send it back!

Cliff, you've got my attention with that $125 offer. What exactly is broken on the radio? Did you buy it new or did you buy it used? Just trying to get an idea of how "used" it is. Where are you? I am assuming that I'm paying shipping. I'm in Southern California, 93544 to be exact. Any idea on shipping cost? Also do you have the owner's manual...and...what module is in the radio? Is it the "fixed channel" standard offering? Tell me it's the "synthesized module #93675" and this is a DONE deal! Anyway, let me know.

Thanks.

Hey can you expand on that a little for me? What is the difference in how you use the 3rd channel mixture control on the M8 versus the M11? That's real key for me as that's the whole reason I'm making this move in the first place. Without question, I can see that there is a meaningful price advantage with the M8 in contrast to the M11. From a price perspective only, the M8 would get my vote right now. I can get an M8 and a Novak synthesized module for less than I can find a M11 with a fixed channel module! Again, what's the operational difference with the 3rd channel?

Pete,

The difference is that the M11 the position of the third channel will stay with each model memory, where as the M8 the position of the third channel for each model memory is the same. So another word, with the M8 you will have to adjust the third channel everytime you change your model. I can tell you that if you're whilling to pay the extra $$$ the M11 is a better radio. I race three boats on the same radio (M8) on the same day and it does not affect my boats at all, because I alway richen up the boats at the start of each race and lean it down as the race progresses or as needed. They are both excellent radios. I've had my M8 for over five years and my son also has his own for his boat. Anywa, you'll be happy with the M8 or the M11.

Lorenzo

Like Lorenzo said, you have to readjust the 3rd channel with every different boat you have, it does not "remember" model specific settings. I use my M8 on many boats, but only one boat has a 3rd channel needle so it works ok for me. You basicall have no "features" with the 3rd channel function on the M8 except for servo reversing type functions. There is also nothing other than clicks to tell you where you are at on the scale of movement, like the Futaba has percentages etc.

The M8 is a great radio like I said, very easy to navigate and use, but the 3rd channel function lacks some key features that make life easier, especially on more than one boat.

~James

I have both and would like to add with the M8 the 3rd channel is a knob and requires you to somewhat remove your hand from the wheel in order to do adjustments. With the M11 you can assign the third channel control to most of the rocker switches located on the radio which allows you to use your thumb to adjust. Also with the M11 you can adjust the portion of control to the 3rd channel. In other words one click of the rocker switch can either move the servo a little or a lot (kind of an exponential control).

Steve

Steve/James, that was great feedback...exactly what I was looking for. I have several boats, but really only one of them at this point in time is set-up with a 3rd channel fuel mixture control, which of course I can't use with my current tx (MX-3S). Who knows how many more will find their way into my fleet over time, but I would assume there will be others. The M8 sounds perfect for me right now. The M11 is probably the better choice for the long run. God only knows I NEVER seem to plan ahead, so will I do that this time and focus my search purely on the future and the M11? I don't know. The dramatic price advantages of the discontinued M8 model sure have my immediate attention. In any case, again, thanks for the feedback.
