so how does the wild thing stack up to other 21 mono's?

My friend Darren built one w/an OS Blue head .21 and it ran great. He had no problem keeping up with a SpeedMaster mono set up w/a OS Blue head .21. If your gonna build it for sport go for it because they are fast and actually handle extemely well. As for a race boat that I can't help you with.

I have ordered the plans, but have not received them as of yet. I ordered them on the 10th of August.

I'm still not positive on what hardware to go for, Speedmaster seems to be the most popular opinion.

I have to agree with Rod, the handling is comparable to a Speedmaster 21 or a Seaducer. I've seen 2 of them run, they seem to run and handle best when run "wet", they are not a hull that runs loose on the water.

The SpeedMaster hardware is what I use now on all my boats. Looks great and is strong as well as readily available.

If you can afford it the Don Gardner XXL line of hardware is pretty awesome......but it has the price tag of a Mercedes!

For a sport boat the wild thing is great. If you want to race pick up a seaducer you will be much happier. Put a stock Mac in it and set it up by the instructions and the boat will run great.

I was not at sand shore. What color was the boat you saw. The red one would be Dave Solway. His is identical to mine and we play bumper boats till some one is upside down when we race.

I personally think the Wild Thing is a VERY capable race boat as I saw on two different occasions Wild Things lay waste to a field of Seaducers & Speedmasters. All three are good boats to race, proper set up always being the key.
