I really like the Nova Rossi motors. There are several options depending on your budget, but they all run great.

I am looking for a oval racing engine. The budget is not as important. Are all the engines rear exhaust (requires 180 degree header)?

I believe the AA is rear exhaust, but I dont remember for sure, contact Al Hobbs about that. All the Rossi motors are front. Call Glenn Quarels, he can give you the run down on the pro's and con's of each of the Rossi motors.

For racing I would suggest the Novarossi 35+ with mods as per the Hammerhead 21 thread, lowered liner, machined head button for higher compression. I like Frank Orlic's 0.350" carb on mine.

I have tried most 21 Novarossi motors out there,

i will not stock a Novarossi 21 motor unless i have tested it myself.......

there is a couple which do not suit us boaters at all.....

If money is not a problem, 35plus21 with 14.5mm crank, marine sleeve lowered,

if money is tight, T21-7M is very good motor also...best bang for buck!!!!!

AA .21 is front exhaust. The CMB VAC .21 is rear exhaust and a real strong runner.

robert, a cmb vac is front exhaust remember, our engines are sitting "backwards" in the hull.....any ehaust. that exits over the collet/flywheel end is front exhaust.exhaust that exits out the backplate`end is rear exhaust. it is denoted by engine configuration, not engine placement . so an engine that needs a 180* header is a rear exhaust engine ;)

Thanks for clearing that up - Robin!!! I was beggining to wonder about this myself, when I started to read this thread.

even the NR 5port is good to race.. with the right pipe and prop you will be on the lead lap except with the toughest racers.. a lower volume head button makes a big difference also.

I personally like the GO .21 engines. 5 or 7 port, no real discernible difference. Im in the minority with that one, but love them. Mark Leyde actually has a special going on right now. Cant beat the price. This will be the second year, and they have been problem free. Great motors!

But, if money is no option, then the Novarossi 35+ with the marine sleeve lowered (like has been stated 3 or 4 times) would be my choice.

There are several good 21 marine engines available today. I think you would be happy with any of them. The NovaRossi, Rossi and A/A engines require a 180 degree exhaust header. The CMB does not.

I do realize that, I was just answering his question to his interpretation in post #6. Did not want to confuse or start a debate on the issue. Was just trying to identify the direction of header based on his question and knowledge. Most best identify front and rear exhaust as to direction in relation to the boat.

Now with our responses I hope this thread doesn't get off topic.

Nova Rossi.... Nova Rossi and Nova Rossi. I have seen them run VERY well by just adjusting the head space AND they last a LONG time.

Not that I know anything all my boats are SLOW!
