Gary,

Did you give Octura Models, Trudie an call at (847) 674-7351 between the hours of 0930 - 1630 CST a call?? I'll bet hey still have the original hard mount that fit these boats. The flex mount you have in there will be really tough on crank cases.

Grim,

This was a LONG TIME before the Hummdinger style rubberized motor mounts. Solid shaft with under water universals, and they ran Megaphones on the side exhaust engines also !!! Roh, Roh, Roh !!! More Power !!! CHEERS !!! Bob

Which engine are you planning to use?

I was lucky, just recently came across a brand-new Prather aluminum motor mount- milled and drilled/tapped to fit Picco 45. These are similiar to the original Octura aluminum mounts. They are heavier than current mounts but function well in these older outrigger designs like the Wing Ding and Prather Piranha. The solid aluminum provides more structural support to prevent flexing (into engine crankcase) caused by engine torque.

Geez David,

Bingo !!! Same post time.

Where are you coming up with this older (to some) stuff. I still have a Mongoose hardwood rails, rubbers and aluminum pads drilled and taped form an OPS 60. Common Andy - I know you still have patterns !!! Har, Har !!! CHEERS !!! Bob

I have had 7 wing dings over the years the wing ding was one of my first riggers bought in 79 this is one that did not get finished it was started by Mike Hallam not sure I am going to run it but I am going to finish it this year if you have the hard mount and think it will fit I am interested I would like to run a vac 45 but this would just be a fun run boat as there is not much nitro running in my dist. so any good 45 would do

Thanks

I believe the Octura Wing Ding 40 kit has 4in wide rails? I'm not 100% sure? It could have 5in wide rails. I'm sure the Wing Ding 60 kit has 5in rails.

You can still aquire aluminum mounts directly from Octura I believe. I would set it up and run it. A current .21 engine would run very fast in the size hull as well (ie. CMB, Nova Rossi, etc.,...)
