What are the advantages of flat bottom struts?

Hi all noticed some outriggers use flat bottom struts as opposed to the rounded ones. Do flat bottom struts carry the stern better through turns? I was thinking of using a flat bottom strut on a micro electric hydro which is stern heavy as i do not want to put any more weight into the bow.Regards Andris Golts.
