Saturday, I had a knock on the door and it was a Kirby salesman trying to sale a sweeper so I let him in to demonstrate. After 2 hours showing me all the sweeper would do I ask him if the sweeper would pick up a bowling ball and he said that all sweepers would pick up a bowling ball.So I went to the bed room and got my 16 pound ball and I said I will buy the sweeper If that Kirby will pick it up and if not I get it for free and he said deal. This is a 2400.00 sweeper. So I put the bowling ball on the floor and he turn on the sweep and tryed to pick up the ball and guest what the sweeper wouldn't pick the ball up.I never seen a salesman pack up so quick and headed out the door.Today I called the kirby company and give the name of the salesman and told them what the salesman said about all sweepers and about the bowl ball and They said that I salesman should have not make that statement.

The kirby sweeper company is sending me a brand new sweeper.I had a ran in with this company before about 20 years ago and I couldn't get the salesman out of my house.

I work in floor care engineering... well at least for the moment,.. the bowling ball trick is as old as they come.. They make a fixture with a cylinder that fits very snug with the balls,.. but not tight... there has to be some airflow to let the motor operate at it's designed rpm... then it will lift the balls inside the cylinder, plexiglass cylinder... in fact,.. the vacuum will lift 3-4 of them like this... pretty good trick,.. but doesn't have a thing to do with what you really measure,.. we call it "cleanability",.. how well the vacuum lifts dirt,.. We are now having issues with the vacuum pulling so much air the the tools just stick to the floor!!! the tools are not designed for this level of performance..!!!

I guess the fact they hooked you up with a hi-dollar vac made it worthwhile, but I gotta tell ya-

He would have never made it past the threshold on the front door, not to mention 2hrs

Your more patient than me...... ;)

They just want way too much for those things! My wife tried selling them for a short time, Most people got their carpets shampooed for free. Many years ago I tried selling Rainbow's and learned a lot of tricks of the trade.
