I received my new Warlock the other day and thought I would give it a little show. In the box was a tub with stuffing tube and rear sponsons installed, 4 front sponsons, 4 boom tubes, Speedmaster strut, Speedmaster rudder, Speedmaster UL motor mount, glass cowl, turn fin, carbon angle for mounting servos, Power Surge tank and Power Surge shim kit. For $525 I don't think you could go wrong.

How does it compare to your Extreme? Have you compared the angle of attack between the two?

Hi Preston,

Mine came about 2 weeks ago. Plan to start on it in a couple weeks now that my new twin is about finished. If it will help you Jon sez the prop load should be 22% of the all up weight less fuel, or the C/G should be 14-7/8 inches from the transom.

I know several people who have them. You're gonna love it! ;)

Rich

What Size rigger is that one you got preston?

Do they have a websight?

Thanks

tom

Is that the next record holder or "just" a heat boat? or are your heat boats doing  double duty?

Jon Gambrel only makes a 21 for now. He's on this forum under warlock I think.

Just planning on a fast heat racer (70+). I'm not ready to boast a 80 mph boat. I think that might be far fetched. But if it's fast enough then why not a record? Until I learn to get these 21's to third stage records are out of the question.

Nothing like the Extreme. But if it runs like a Crashooter and as fast as the Extreme I'll be happy.

It's all about racing! I'll get it together and give you guys a real life report.

Nice Boat Preston. Will you have it the water soon?

John Brown's old heat boat currently holds the record so I don't see any reason Preston's new heat boat couldn't set a new record.

Of coarse, John now has a new heat boat too! (cause I sold his old one!! LOL) :p

Nice to see more new boats out there.

I want to get it wet ASAP! I have some good heat racers but I think I still have to leave the records alone. Certainly the 20 record. Now the 40 oval.........maybe. The 12 stuff was really kind of easy. Those will probably stand until somebody gets serious. Or at least until CMD offers a 12. :D

CMD Offering a .12?

Now if someone would read that wrong, RUMARS get started that way.

Well Andy? Little SG? Little Eagle SG?

Tom

Build it and they will buy!

From what I have seen a 12 would run as good or better than most of the 21's. Of course I have never been to the Nats.

We have a .12 SG Kit. When we first came out with it we put a Picco .12 in it.

Ran 60 mph with a 1640 prop.

Put an RB .21 in it and ran 99.8 mph twice in a row on radar back in 1998. Took it to a record trail once, but the water was not good.

Anyway a really good handling boat.

Would be neat to have a rear exhaust .12

Andy, that's incredible.

All kidding aside, I know a bunch of boaters would pay a nice buck for sharing Andy Brown's knowledge of prop tuning and setup. :D There are a few boaters doing props out there, and IMHO, none that I've inspected up close have the extent of the refined preparation of CMD's props. It's not something that is first glance noticeable without knowing what to look for, and that statement surely doesn't apply to all other prop services, so I'm not bashing anyone, just stating an opinion based on my personal experience. ;)

If you could, would you put all of your accumulated prop tweaking knowledge in print for others to share, or will you take it to the grave with you? :D

I've seen Mr. Brown mill a boat, bring it in, eyeball-bend the prop with pliers while it's still on the boat, and throw it back in. I ask myself "how many people give a speed tweak to a MOTOR'S NEEDLE SETTING not by adjusting the needle, but by changing the prop's pitch load right there in the pit???" Now that is thinking out-of-the-box... Folks, that is the kind of attention to detail that sets records.

I think I know the answer - Maybe when you're a cane swinging 106 year old and bored with yelling at the kids to get off your lawn...

:D :D :D you put a .21 in a .12 rigger, I love that you always stick a bigger engine in the boat it was made for.

That is some awesome speeds with a 12. I think i have to look into getting one.

I just feel its nearly impossable to reach 50+ with a .12

Maybe im wrong, but think about it. alittle 12, anyone ever put a .18 in one?

Hey Andy you still have the 12 riggers?

Tom

preston thanks for the plug. i am also working on a gas version. it is alittle different in design but runs on the same geometry. looks like it might be a hit.

andy

i am curious about time trial speeds. i was told that you would have to go about 80mph to get the 2 lap record(21 size). i find this hard to believe when the record is 64-65mph. any thoughts?

thanks jon

Hey Jon-

As odd as it sounds, that is about right. The 1/8 scale oval record I set last fall shows my speed at 38.961mph but the boat radars at 65 down the straightaway. The mph numbers for oval records are very deceiving. When Kentley Porter & John Finch set the F hydro oval record the boat was running in the upper 90's coming off the corners yet the record reads 72.381.

90 out of the corner and 99 at the end of the straight according to the radar gun. So to go 72 you have to go 100. That sucks!

I just used that as a rule of thumb. You need 15-20 mph faster SAW speed than the oval timed speed to be in the ball park. I think the SAW speed method is better than trying to use a stop watch to see how close you might be.

Look at the B hydro 1/3 mile oval record, 63.620mph. It wasn't quite that fast a few years ago when I saw it and I think John was running 75mph SAW. He drove his ass off as well.
