Marty,

I need your address?

I don't quite understand the emoticons?

If you would really like

to test some new propellers with less slippage? The rolleyes

comes across as if you do not believe me. I would be happy

to send you one if you could evaluate the performance on your boat.

Thanks,

Mark Sholund

Mark:

Not trying to start something.

I have been studying slippage in detail for quite a while and have my best props running faster than they should based on pitch. Guess that means that I have found a way to REDUCE slippage.

6% slippage is an interesting claim. How did you test that and what is the basis for your % claim?

Aren't emoticons great.... :)

Marty,

We test in a great environment up here in Northern Michigan, great air and clean water.

We have tested many different combinations and have come up with our results with

on the water testing. Stalker radar gun and accurate stop watches and then we bring

our test data home and run them through our formulas and draw our own conclusions.

Jim at ABC Propellers has helped out a lot with propellers and accurate information.

Thanks,

Mark Sholund

If the radar gun says it's running over 80mph then thats good enough for me , anyone who has been in this hobby long enough knows that a good Radar gun means a hell of alot more than calculating pitch , slip and rpm .

I think Terry said it the best you can't bull **** a good radar gun.

Great boat Aaron and Kently

LOL! BTW I call my Stalker Pro my "BS Eliminator". :D

I think Andy was bang on with his theory that the boat will only go as fast as the LE pitch, we've found that to be very true - at least with low drag hulls. ;)

Nice runnin' boat! C'mon back in Tim, the water's great! :)
Andy's theory???? Mercury racing would tell you the same thing. Not knocking Andy, but in model boating it seems if people learn something from some one they assume they are the discoverer.

Jeff:

You are probably correct about that. Check my post, I didn't say that Andy came up with that theory, just that he talked about it. The big boats and the toy boats sometimes run in a paralell universe. Really doesn't matter who came up with it unless the person saying they did objects. Knowlege is what is important and I really don't care where it comes from. Andy is just the first person that I had heard talk about the leading edge pitch being the limiting factor for SAW. I have know for a long time that cutting the tongue off of an X series prop did a lot to eliminate the governor effect of the tongue. I have seen Mercury MArine props for MANY years with aboslutely no tongue (like our V series Octura Props). I bet that Tom Preschenka would say that he copied that from Mercury MArine.
I here you Marty, I didn't see your post, I was posting to Terry's. I've went back and now see you guys were both saying that. Yes entry pitch can limit you, especially because you can only cup a prop so much, with so much LE pitch. The more LE pitch the more overall pitch you can have leading to more speed. (Not trying to school you Marty, just talking). Jeff

Very nice running rigger....Looks like this is the boat of the future....& no rear sponsons. I am sold on this video...after seeing this boat turn on a dime & handle ruff water at high speed....watch out open hydro. :D

aaron,

when you speak of leading edge pitch.. did you add some to your prop or take some out. Or was it a matter of cutting off that area till you got to the area that had the pitch number on the stock prop? can someone give me the formula to figure this out as i have no clue what it is.

I hope i made sence.

chris

Jeff:

I am ALWAYS interested in what you have to say. I have always been impressed with your knowlege (backed up with performance). I noted everything that you said about the 101 to help a buddy get his 101 running super well.

I always enjoyed tech sessions at the pond with you. Always something important to learn. I remember several at Sarasota IMPBA Nats (If I remember correctly).
