Gent's:

I have read where many of you are using the Vibration damping (Lords type) mounts from McMaster-Carr.

Last year I ordered a set to replace them in one of my scales, ordered P.N. 96905K37 "Chemical-Resistant Vibration-Damping sandwich Mounts"

They didn't last a year before they were splitting in the centers and basically falling apart.

What part numbers are the masses using with success?

i use the 1/4-20 MF rubber mounts that come with SS fasteners from Gizmo for my gas boats.

here are the Mac Carr no's for gas engine mounts with 5 inch spacing

and the numbers for gas tygon tubing and large blue silicone water line.

these have worked well for me in a gasoline environment. i have no experience with nitro fuel.

5552k23 fuel line

5054k53 water line

9378K32 rubber isolators for engine mounts

I've always used the Humdinger mount dampeners VERTICALLY. I've seen many, over the years, that have had the same issue as what you're having using the dampeners horizontally and it didn't matter as to brand. That being said, I'd love to find a source as the Humdingers are getting harder to find.

Don't think its a vertical/horizontal issue, the ones replaced a year ago were well over 20 years old.

Have 4 Seaducers ALL with horizontal mounts, my 60 boat is over 10 years old, never been replaced.

Sport-40 prolly over 15 years on the isolators,, never replaced.

So, Guess I'll contact Jerry (Seaducer boats) or Ross (Speedmaster) for my next replacements

Hey Rick,

The 96905K37 mounts you are using do not have a very high load rating (12lb.). I use (and have been using) the 9378K31 (natural rubber) which has a 31lb. load rating and they work fine at a 1/3rd of the cost ($2.17 each vs. $6.15 each). The plain natural rubber also has better resistance to tearing. Hope this helps.
