My buddy Will Gallagher was out at the Huntsville Time Trials and Glenn was telling him about the week long trials in Valdosta.

I would assume that Glenn will be there.

Went back and retrieved the email I got from Glen a while back:

"Mike, the dates are Mar 20 - 28. The pond is 1450 feet long with the course set up in the exact center giving 560 feet on each end to run up.

Hope to see you there,

Glenn"

Sorry Hall, had the number of days right, just not the weekends. but then i didn't have the email in front of me when you called either.

I am looking forward to this event. Plenty of time for High speed passes. No Flights to catch. Just a good time.

But I tell you, if I don’t get my 100 mph pass, I may just take up basket weaving

Cheers,

Will

100mph basket weaver - LMAO!

Sounds like it will be ideal for a few records to fall!

Oh Yea I'll be there!!! I have been planning on having a two weekend and the week in-between time trial since I found out I was heading back to Texas (if I am going to put 2000 miles on my truck I want to have a good shot at the right conditions)! The story behind the date confussion...Jason applied for and recieved the sanction for Mar 20-28, but there was a mistake in the Roostertail and they listed something like Mar 3-20. The last word I have heard from Jason is that Karla Dicks, the District director, told him we would be running on the sanction dates, not the ones printed in the Roostertail.

Just kinda a heads up on how we will be running "Speed Week". Based on the turn out from all of the other time trials we have had in Valdosta I don't expect getting enough run time to be a problem for anyone, but if we have folks waiting around for good water, priority will be given to the boats that have an actual chance of setting a record. That means if you're close to record speed and it looks like you will be able to do it with a few tweaks we are going to let you keep running (no 5 minute limit and we may even let you retrieve your boat and keep running). But if you haven't been close to record speed all day we may pass your turn , or if you are just making passes back and forth that are not getting any better we may call you off the water early.

I really don't think we will have a problem most days, but I just want to be fair and let everybody know what we are going to be doing before it starts. No hard feelings!

Hope to see a bunch of fast boats there!

Glenn I hope you guys have great water all week so it won't be a problem 'cause you're basically throwin' the rule book out the window..........

Glenn will use the pit time/run time as stated on page G-9 in the rulebook. If you are very close to the record you can have the pond, I believe, but the runs must be made in the 5 minute time frame. When the 5 minute is up, you must return to the pits, stop the engine, and begin another pit time/run time. There is nothing beyond the 5 minute except a restart of a stopped engine. All timed runs must be within the 5 minute, you can not extend this. From what I read in Glenns post I think he will permit you to run several pit time/run time periods in a row without stopping for the next competitor. The "no 5 minute limit" is an error.

With a whole week you guys should have plenty of chances to kick butt!! Best wishes to all who attend & attempt. Doesn't look like I can make it like I had hoped. Something called starting a new job looks like it will get in the way....... <_< <_<

John and Don, you guys are right on...we will be playing 100% by the book. What I was trying to say is that IF we have lots of folks and limited good water we will put the guys with a chance of setting a record on an "A" list to be given priority to run. Guys that are testing or not close to record speed will be put on the "B" list until the "A" guys pass on their turns or haven't been able to get the record in a reasonable time. This is nothing new to time trials and I hope I haven't caused too much confussion by rambling on. Thanks for keeping me straight.

Glenn

Oh yea, I talked to Jason yesterday and he said the weeds are going away very nicely!

Terry, he has used some kind of chemical (I don't know what), but the biggest thing keeping the grass down right now is the winter weather. Unless the next batch of chemicals work magic I don't think the pond will be runable all summer. :(
