Sounds to me like the city is trying to get funding anywhere it can. Seattle is cutting programs and doing everything it can to not raise taxes or fees, but how long is that going to last?

It funny that the city built that pond for the model boaters back in the late fiftys..And now they them to pay ..My cusins use to run there sail boats there when I was a kid..It seams that Goverment has to step in and get there money form the little guys..Next it be the city parks will have to pay to go to..

Not sure about California, but many state parks in Washington already have cashier booths inside the park's main gates. It's pay or go home in many cases.

Also read that after 45 years they are not allowing parking on the grass. Moving all general parking to other side of the bay on Fiesta Island and running shuttle buses.

Say Glen maybe next year we can hook up and head down there together and see the race.and take some picx.

Sounds alot like the BUL---- that Seafair has done over the years. Stuff like this is what ruins this sport for everyone.

The pond there in San Diego is in a city park not state. We too have to pay to go into the state parks. It all about the money..

We could even consider a different venue. One of these days I'd like to see those Unlimiteds from the museum run.

Seen pictures of the U-7, 25 and 37 with their new colors.....looking good! I'll post some of my own Thursday.

That sounds good..Like to see the New Rebuilt 55 Thrifway run too..And hear those old engins ..

Come on up to Lake Chelan on Oct 1,2 and 3. Both R/C Unlimiteds and the vintage boats from the museum will race.

That 1955 Thriftway isn't a rebuild, it's a new boat. The original was wrecked back in the 50's, as was it's successor when it lost it's rudder and harpooned a Coast Guard utility boat on Lake Washington in 1959. Only the 1960 Thriftway is left of the four Thriftway boats.

Don't forget the Thriftway Too!

The cabover styled "Too" was the fourth Thriftway, and like the first two, it was stripped down and burned. I'm not sure if it was damaged or just too poor of runner for the owners. Like the first boat, the 1955, the "Too" is being built from scratch. From what I've heard, Ron Jones redrew the plans for the "Too" and someone in the Kent Valley(southeast of Seattle) is building a recreation. When it came to engines for the boat, Jones recommended a Rolls Royce Griffon. With the Griffon's raw power, the "Too" could be a real runner this time around B)

My mistake ..I ment the New Thrifway ..rebuilt from the 1955 plans.I got to sent them a picture of mine 55 Thrifway.while they were inthe prosses of building that one..Bunch of grate guys to take time to do that..

Bad first day. The new CF card I bought from Fry's Electronics was bad......lost almost 300 pictures of the Unlimiteds.

Dave Villwock won the 2010 Bayfair race.

They pulled off a great race!
